There is a finite amount of wealth available to. The larger point is the message it sends to society.

You fine and/or imprison Musk because the rule of law matters. It is either illegal to break campaign laws or it isn’t. It’s basically the same reason to fine/imprison Trump. Either attempting a coup is illegal or it isn’t.

Amazing how conservatives no longer care about democracy so long as they win.

The part that I am confused about, Shouldn't the Justice Department be able to say clearly if something violates the law or not? Musk either is or is not violating campaign law and the law should be written in such a way that this is crystal clear.

The Justice Department warned Elon Musk’s America PAC in recent days that his $1 million sweepstakes to registered voters in swing states may violate federal law

I think that’s standard legalese. The government alleges person X violated the law, a jury determines if that’s true.

Shouldn't their be a indictment? Right now it reads like the Department of Justice is like, you maybe could be violating the law but we are not sure.

The government often gives warnings to let people off easy.
Normally I wouldn't mind, but election law violations should be taken very seriously, especially given this context.
And if Musk ignores the government, the feds need to bring down the hammer to make an example of him. Otherwise the government's request will be taken as a kind suggestion rather than something with the monopoly on use of force behind it.

That's a surprisingly ignorant statement.
Conservatives and the Republican party writ large have repeatedly demonstrated they don't care about the rule of law.

See: the impeachments of Donald Trump. January 6. Voter disenfranchisement. Unwillingness for police reform. I mean, the list is very long...

LOL at any conservative in 2024 pretending to care about the rule of law. What an absolute joke.
It is funny how for years conservatives excused Trump by saying ‘well if he’s so bad then why hasn’t he been convicted of a crime?’ Then when he was they were just like ‘meh, I still don’t care’.

They never cared. This is why when I asked @Greenman if he was troubled by all the felonies and rapes by Trump I predicted he would not respond and sure enough, he didn’t!

The party's nominee is a man who tried to violently overthrow the republic and the results of a fair election. You don't get the benefit of the doubt after that.
But he hasn't been convicted of that specific crime. We can't believe our own lying eyes and ears to form opinions. /s

I would say that a trial is required before the fine or imprisonment, but I'm one of those crazy conservatives with the outlandish ideas.

Pre-Trump conservatives with absolutely no room in MAGA unless you're sucking the orange piss everyday!

It is when there is a direct payment to a specific group. No one ever offered to pay of my loans. No one ever offered me a $20k forgivable loan. Why the hell would I vote for that?

you want those things because you want to incentivize education, so that you and the rest of us don't have to spend our lives surrounded by fucking morons such as yourself.

it's the entire fucking point. You are the lead weight that is drowning the progress of humanity. We agreed that these were good things back in the 17th fucking century, yet here you are, still telling us the fucking water is fine to drink while your cows are shitting in it.

Hey now! We don't need any more liberals running around lose here in the south.

Sure. And here the rest of the country really could use some Sherman blazing a path right through there right about now, and for the good of the actual country.

I know you know that.

My favorite part of that is 'why would I vote for someone who forgives loans??' while adamantly refusing to answer why he is happily voting for someone who attempted a fucking coup.

Apparently loan forgiveness is worse than trying to end democracy.
