So coming back from Cleveland I had a very tense moment charging at Target in Munster IN. This place was packed with 8 out of the 12 chargers being used. The chargers were alternating side by side instead of the ones along the interstate that I'm used to and really tight side by side to.

I usually don't get the most cordial response when charging at a Tesla station but this one had me getting many dirty looks because I had to reposition multiple times and took up two spaces. It was so tight and really busy. I managed but wow....

So close....around 2 inches away from hitting the charger.

Had a great time in Cleveland. Even though this was work related I have family and friends there so we all met at Bar 32 for some apps and drinks. Great views of the city and the lake!

Glad I had this today. EA station was 2+ hours backed up in Hood River, OR.

Yeah there's going to be a whole subreddit of "assholes at Tesla" chargers or something.

And it's not really our fault. I'm just waiting for a time that someone tries to confront me on taking up two two stalls.

It's not my fault some bean counter said the cables needed to be ridiculously short.

As non-Tesla access opens up it's going to just get worse.

Ford just announced some really cool changes coming to the 2025 model.

2025 Mustang Mach-E Adds Sportier Looks, Auto Lane Changes and More

  • Added Standard Equipment: The 2025 Mustang Mach-E® adds a heat pump to help optimize energy consumption, especially in colder weather conditions
  • More Personalization: A Sport Appearance Package offers Mustang Mach-E GT design elements on Premium models; new colors and wheels are also available
  • Enhanced BlueCruise: The latest version of hands-free highway driving, adds Automatic Lane Change, automating up to 45% of lane changes on an average drive, based on internal testing
DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 21, 2024 – To give customers more of what they have been asking for, 2025 Mustang Mach-E adds a new standard heat pump, automatic lane changes using the latest version of available BlueCruise1 hands-free highway driving – BlueCruise 1.5 – and a new Sport Appearance Package, all at an appealing price point and with zero vehicle emissions.

“We’ve built strong relationships with our customers over the last four years, and continue to make upgrades based on their feedback,” said Donna Dickson, Mustang Mach-E chief engineer. “We’re dedicated to giving them the best version of Mustang Mach-E possible, and that means giving them features they have been asking for, like the new heat pump and more interior space up front.”

Ford continues to monitor forums and listen to customers to integrate their feedback into its products and to enhance the total electric vehicle ownership experience by offering the Ford Power Promise, which addresses customer pain points.

Premium and Sporty
For Premium model buyers seeking a sportier look, a new Sport Appearance Package brings key styling cues from Mustang Mach-E GT at a lower price point, including the front fascia and grille shield and painted red front Brembo®-branded brake calipers, as well as 19-inch Monochromatic High-Gloss Black-Painted wheels and black-painted door cladding and wheel lips.

Automatic Lane Changes With BlueCruise 1.5
BlueCruise 1.5, the latest version of the available hands-free highway driving system, debuts on the 2025 Mustang Mach-E. BlueCruise 1.5 includes a new feature, Automatic Lane Change, where the system can smoothly and seamlessly perform a lane change for you without driver input.

BlueCruise 1.5 will initiate a lane change if the vehicle ahead is slower than the set speed or if a vehicle is following too closely in the passing lane. It keeps drivers engaged longer in hands-free mode and helps navigate traffic. Internal testing shows BlueCruise 1.5 automates up to 45% of driver-initiated lane changes on a typical drive.

New 2025 Mustang Mach-E customers will have more options at vehicle order for how they access BlueCruise, with a one-year plan and one-time purchase option.2 Those who opt for the one-time purchase won’t need to reactivate BlueCruise. A 90-day complimentary trial is also available for those who don’t choose either plan option.

In-Vehicle Experience: New Ford Connectivity Package

The new Ford Connectivity Package enhances the in-vehicle experience. This package includes:

  • Wi-Fi® Hotspot: 5G Wi-Fi keeps drivers and their family online and connected while on the road. This can be used for up to 10 personal devices and can extend up to 50 feet from the vehicle, great for camping or tailgating3.
  • Apps: Access apps via the in-vehicle screen to watch YouTube or sing along to in-vehicle karaoke while parked. Occupants can also stream their favorite audio entertainment apps via Alexa.4
  • Maps: Access Connected Navigation to get where you need to go, including features such as EV Trip Planner, Predictive Destinations, and Route Guidance.5
At vehicle order, customers can select a one-time purchase6 without having to worry about setting up a plan. If they don’t select this option, they will receive a one-year complimentary trial upon activation and then can set-up an annual plan.

More Personalization Choices

Giving customers more ways to personalize their Mustang Mach-E, three new optional colors make their debut for 2025, including Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat7, Velocity Blue Metallic7, and Desert Sand. Three new wheel designs are introduced, including a Dark Carbonized Gray wheel for Mustang Mach-E Rally.

The Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Upgrade remains available as a factory option or a purchase through the FordPass® app after delivery.

The 2025 Mustang Mach-E goes on sale in early 2025, starting at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $36,495.

My take:

1. If I were buying an EV today, it would be a Mach-E
2. The new lane-changing feature is dope
3. The karaoke feature is great. We use it in friend's Tesla all the time, SUPER fun!

Only concern is the heat pump, which has been iffy in the Tesla. I'd wait a year to see the reviews & how they hold up in the winter...

Yeah I'm kind of curious about the heat pump to. I have an older unit(12+ years)here at home and once it starts to get below freezing the heat output really starts to drop so the NG unit takes over. I know not an apples to apples comparison because the tech has come a long way in 12 years but like you said it has been iffy on Tesla models.

I haven't followed Tesla's issues. Are they reliability issues or just people noting that they can't get the car as warm as they would like?

If you were to do a density map of Teslas, they are generally going to be found in pretty forgiving climates anyway. LA/San Fran/Seattle/Portland/Houston. Ect. All places without bitter cold temps.

This has long been a complaint from some people with residential heat pumps. They are expecting the registers to be blasting hot air out when the heat is on and that's not how it works. Creates a perception that it isn't working even though it is.

Yeah the difference in perceived heat is an issue with some people. I kind of like the heat output from the heat pump more than the output from the NG unit. It's more of a subtle heat that blows continuously instead of a short blast of hot air if that makes any sense. It's hard to put into words.....

The issue I have is that once the temp drops below a certain point(32F/0C give or take)my heat pump takes more time and energy defrosting the coils than it does producing heat. Of course mine is an older residential unit not a modern one that is operating in a vehicle so it's just not a good comparison.

I think it will be interesting to see how the Ford units operate in cooler temps. I think it will be new for the Lightning to so there should be plenty of data to comb over once the 2025 models go into production and get into the hands of customers.

Sure it is. Refrigerant transfers latent heat from the air outside with the help of compression and it gets pumped inside to a radiator, where a fan blows it into the room. Mine blasts hot air just fine down to the coldest temps we see in Boston (single digit degrees F). It gets much more expensive electricity wise the colder it gets but no more expensive than natural gas at its worst.

My buddy said the saving grace in his MY is preheating & the heated seats.

Mach-E is on the top of my list for the next car. I'm hoping for a redesign in `26. Would love to see them offer V2H at that point.
