23 hours until the next challenge. It has an odd start time.

I don't know it yet, but my guess is that it is the same executable name as in the previous llrGCW challenge.
The application versions are:
llrGCW ..... version 9.51 (mt), installed on 10 Sep 2024
llrSR5 ....... version 9.51 (mt), installed on 24 Aug 2024

BTW, current llrSR5 workunits have 10.0 MBytes CPU cache footprint, which is less than half of what the llrGCW workunits of the previous challenge took.

No half day stats.....
I'm aiming for full day stats. Maybe that's a mistake?

If that's a good time for you, go for it!

I think we just had half day stats in the past because the start times made it difficult to do full day stats.

I would have thought that midnight was a hard time to report, or 3 am if he is on the east coast

current llrSR5 workunits have 10.0 MBytes CPU cache footprint,
Correction: up to 10.0 MBytes.

Currently running workunits on my Zen 2 computers show this assortment of transforms:
FMA3 FFT length 1M
FMA3 FFT length 1120K
FMA3 FFT length 1280K
negacyclic FMA3 FFT length 1M
negacyclic FMA3 FFT length 1152K
negacyclic FMA3 FFT length 1280K
zero-padded FMA3 FFT length 1280K
And currently running on Zen 4:
AVX-512 FFT length 1280K
negacyclic AVX-512 FFT length 1M
negacyclic AVX-512 FFT length 1152K
negacyclic AVX-512 FFT length 1200K
negacyclic AVX-512 FFT length 1280K
zero-padded AVX-512 FFT length 1280K

1M/1120K/1200K/1280K FFT lengths mean 8.0/8.75/9.375/10.0 MBytes size of FFT coefficients, each one having 64 bits.

I haven't seen "negacyclic" FFTs with LLR and LLR2, so this one seems to be new with PRST. Or LLR/LLR2 merely didn't report in the same way when they perfomed a negacyclic instead of a cyclic FFT (if they did). From a quick glance at a few workunits, FFT or zero-padded FFT is used to test candidates of the k*5^n1 form, and negacyclic FFT to test the k*5^n+1 form.

I believe to remember that LLR and LLR2 already had special handling of projects which have both n−1 and n+1 exponents in candidates, and that implementation of this special handling caused a bit of delay of the transition of these projects from LLR to LLR2.

Unlike in the llrGGCW challenge in September with the very same PRST binary, I have not seen it crashing on Zen 2 with segmentation violation yet, nor failing in any other way.

I may not be able to do these for awhile. It seems I broke my Ubuntu's package manager somehow. I think I'll need to install a whole new OS on a new drive tomorrow.

I've been so busy I forgot to welcome xxshanshon!

Some interesting new names, but we missed a few old ones. @biodoc ? I know @TennesseeTony was watching.

Ukraine was oh so close to overtaking [H] this round.

Excellent run Mark! Kinda hard to compete using personal systems now that infinite cloud is available for purchase as needed. (huge assumption on my part)
Same here (the assumption) I had the lead for 4.5 days, and looking at the graph all of a sudden yesterday, 2 ysers took of like a rocket and doubled their output in an instant ! I say cloud. I added 3 computers at that time for 96 more non-SMT cores, but I was just flinging my arms like a windmill making no difference.

llrSR5 is one of the PrimeGrid projects with smaller workunits (llrPPS, llrPPSE, and GFN-16...-18 are smaller), making it easy for cloud customers to switch into a sprint on the last day.

The next challenge at llrPSP will have bigger tasks again, even bigger than the llrGCW challenge in September.

Does that mean that Turin will be even better ? do you have any info on that ? It is supposedly 20% to 40% better than Genoa NOW.

not any better than it would be on this most recent challenge. task cache sizes are still <32MB for the PSP challenge.

but AMD Genoa/Turin/etc will be at a disadvantage for GFN-21 on the December challenge if you wanted to use them. for one this is a GPU project, and GPUs are MUCH faster, and if you want to use CPU effectively at all, you need more than 40MB cache available, which the AMD/EPYCs (outside of the X3D models) do not have more than 32MB chunks available
