I've been microwaving rice lately. It turns out pretty well, and I don't need any specialty gear. Once I get in the groove, I can do a good job of cooking stovetop rice, but by the time I get it down, I'm tired of rice, and I forget the fine details next time around.

Sometimes coffee just hits different, and a certain cup is going to be super good. Didn't do anything different or anything, it just happens that way.

Just had one like that this morning, but now it's empty. All good things must come to an end.

My helper and I had to do a yearly refresher for work today so we got a day off during the week so the company would not have to pay overtime.

The class was held in a conference room at cafe. When we got there the instructor was setting up and a bunch of people started showing up for a chess club meeting. After much discussion with the staff the chess club left and we started our class.

2 hours later the owner or manager of the joint showed up and the instructor accidentally mis gendered the person ( He called the person Ma'am ) "They" asked us to leave.

Monday I have to figure out what's happening with pay and such.

I went to memorial service this morning for a young guy we knew well.

From talking to his live in girlfriend, it sounds like drugs were involved. Sad as hell. He was great guy…trying to turn his life around. Had a good job…doing well…until this. He leaves behind 2 girls with his ex-wife and a 1 year old son with his girlfriend.

I got call my bird was dying so I went to say goodbye. She lifted her head a little bit and tried to get to me. Then she fell asleep again. I stayed for awhile and then headed home.

On the way home I decided to browse beer at total wine. On the way out I saw someone I used to be friends with. I said his name and he squinted at me and said " Whos that?". He walked closer and said " Who are you?". It was around 10 in the morning and he might have been drunk. He looked like hell. Missing a front tooth even..

I went to college with the guy and we were kinda close until he got crazy a while back. I kind of cut him off. Then he got really crazy during covid We talked for a while even though I found it hard to look him in the face. I told him I had to go but we would talk. As I went to my car I felt very sad and guilty.

My wife messaged me a few minutes ago to let me know the bird died. When I tried to reply my phone suggested 3 condolence messages with emojis and and all and it pissed me off so bad I wanted to throw it for some reason.

Now I need to get ready to take my wife out to lunch and I kinda just wanna lay down.

Running some electrical wire for a new outlet. Original plan was to piggyback off an existing outlet in the floor. Well, that appears to be always-on. Not wanting to electrocute myself or my electrician friend, I found a new outlet that could be turned off.
Next problem is the location I want to run wire in the wall appears to be too close to the fire place.
No worries, I'll go for a slightly farther spot but I know it will work. It won't look as clean, but that's ok.
Running the fish tape at the new location, and it bounces off an existing junction box, twists up, and snaps.
Annoying, so I pulled the other junction box, untangled everything, and ultimately ran the wire successfully.
Not in the location I wanted, with a lot more drywall cut up than I wanted, but it's done. I have a nearby electrical outlet for my TV mounted above the fire place.

Couldn't you just turn off that breaker? Although when I run a new outlet I usually like to run a new circuit anyway rather than piggy back off existing electrical especially if it's not electrical I put in myself.

Had problem with flaky internet access with old wifi router. Bought new router. Could not get X10 WM100 controller to connect to new router. Went back to old router. Works fine.

I appear to collect rare diseases the way others collect rare vinyl LPs.

Currently am up to three, with a combined incidence (from what I read in the medical literature - and, granted, I'm no expert, so I might have the numbers wrong, hard to do the maths as two are causally-related but the third is supposedly entirely independent) of about 2 in a billion people.

Some scumbags cut some of our copper and fibre causing an outage again. Seems to be a very regular occurrence now days. They really need to start charging these assholes with domestic terrorism instead of giving them a slap on the wrist. These cuts cost 100's of thousands in damages and at the end of the day it's the people that pay for it via higher insurance premiums, higher internet/phone bills, etc. This particular outage also affects the power grid as there are SCADA circuits for the substation on there.

At least this makes an otherwise quiet night a little more interesting though. lol.

So I f'd up one speaker. When I was installing the tweeter, it wouldn't fit because of the paint buildup. After a bunch of sanding (inside of the cutout, and the tweeter itself) and doing a test fit, I pushed too hard and damaged the paint.

I tried fixing it but only made it worse. So I taped off the area, sanded it down to the base coat, and sprayed a coat of color. It's sort of a design element now, but I'm not sure where to go from here.

I'm gonna see how it is after sanding/flattening the area and building up more layers of color. I want both speakers to match, but I really don't want to screw up the other speaker...

Any ideas?

That doesn't look bad. You could also go with a completely different color there. Almost has art deco feel to it.

We have that here except it's people cutting street light boxes to pull out the copper wire. We have many blocks that are completely out of power because some jackasses cut the wire and sold it for scrap.

You're right - it does have an art deco feel. I considered using a different color, maybe black since it matches the color of the tweeter.
