trying to find files on old HD

I want to get files off a SSD, its from another computer( that I screwed up today).I have it plugged in using an SSD enclosure. The specific folders would be in the users folder. When I go to there the only one that shows up is PUBLIC, not the one with my name and all the documents and downloads files. Its not visible at all. I have tried searches and youtube all day and have gotten nowhere. Any hints or help appreciated thanks

Probably because your stuff is on the C drive.

A few things to try is to go to C drive properties & uncheck "hidden" and ensure file types is set = "archive."

You can get your files off using "Puppy Linux" (free) and just simply off load them. Another possibility is to use the free "TestDisk" utility to adjust folder attributes to enable off load.

It is most likely because of either bitlocker/encryption and/or simple ownership/permissions issues. I am leaning towards an ownership issue and you need to open the explorer window with admin permissions as the user's folders other than public on a drive on a different computer would be owned by a user that isn't you even if you are using the same username as on the old computer (unless you had setup an Active Directory server and these systems were all clients under the same AD domain), and thus, it is not showing to you without running as admin.
