If I recall, someone here said that Biden has privately expressed regret for choosing Garland. Maybe he didn't realize how feckless he'd be as AG.
I believe it. I believe Biden regrets what was clearly a terrible choice that has helped get us to this point now. It's part of the reason.

MerriG was not an appropriate choice for AG
I think with hindsight, this will be cited as one of the biggest mistakes of the Biden presidency. Not saying Garland isn't smart, but he clearly is erring egregiously on the side of caution, not wanting to appear politically motivated at the expense of investigating and prosecuting very serious federal offenses

While still getting shit on by half the country for being too aggressive and partisan.

Since he was going to take the heat anyway he should have been much more aggressive in getting cases to trial.

That was me I think. He's supposedly told a few people stuff along these lines. I would agree that it has been a sizable mistake, maybe his biggest.

We're at the point where trump talking about Arnold Palmer's dick for 15 minutes just disappears like a fart in the wind after a couple days. That would be a death sentence for any other politician but the media just goes back to talking about how Kamala is having trouble reaching certain demographics and isn't "locking up the win".
Their effort is being spent normalizing Kamala to Trump, rather than the other way around. Very probably because if there wasn't a perceived competition, there wouldn't be as many eyeballs to pull.

Thinking about Trump's bizarre speeches in the context of 'any other politician' makes me want to see an AI-generated video of past Presidents and Presidential candidates mouthing Trump's incoherent rambling drivel (in their own voices).

JFK in Berlin talking about Arnold Palmer's genitals, Eisenhower rambling on about orgies (as Trump did at that Boy Scout convention), Lincoln at Gettysburg burbling about electric sharks, etc...

WP has lost 200K subscribers so far, or 8% of their total. I am feeling a bit guilty about that - all the actual reporters and it seems the vast majority of editors, are all on the right side here, but it was a Bezos decision. Punishing the WP will hurt those reporters, so it's a tough situation. But dropping Prime and shopping less at Amazon will actually hurt Bezos, as that's where he makes his money, not on his tiny pet project the WP.

Be interesting to see if people make the connection and cancel their Prime membership.

Very interesting about the Harris McDonald image. Has a very good point that companies don't keep employment records forever. I could really care less that Harris worked at McDonalds or didn't. However the image of her in a McDonalds uniform was deliberately created so Harris supporters would run with it so then Republicans could accuse them of spreading false information.

Conservatives will attack anything and it's actually great to see them attacking shit like this because it means they have nothing better to go after. If there was a single scandal worth a shit, they wouldn't be mentioning her work record at a fast food restaurant.

I've gotten 4 texts from random numbers in the last 4 days now, asking for an increasing amount of money each time. First one was non-specific, then $5, $9, and now $15. I don't know how/why I'm getting them, but they do have a URL that goes to a 45 dot donaldjtrump dot com address that redirects to a WinRed site (the Republican counterpart to ActBlue)

Not so sure that it matters much at this point. Trump has spread his "agenda" since, what, 2015 when he ran for the first term? I will vote for Kamala (well, actually against Trump) no matter what. I think a lot of people actually like Trump's racist, fascist, white nationalist agenda. Others just somehow like the "show". You are not going to convince anyone supporting, (or even considering supporting) Trump at this late date, that he is a threat to democracy. I would prefer they just ignore him totally. Isn't there an old saying that any publicity is good publicity, or something like that?

I would also like more from Kamala about how she is going to make my life better, instead of just saying what a bad guy Trump is --- I already know that.
What can any president do for you without full control of congress?

What a world we live in now. “Counterfeit Proof Tactic”, faked images, debunking, debunking-of-the-debunking, and all with regard to whether someone once served burgers. World's gone mad.

This fucking guy is as Looney tunes as the egghead. Actually probably worse.

Right Kamala hasn't said anything about what she's going to do and there's nowhere where her platform is easily found. Fucking douchebag this Minnesota Walz hating liar is.

The tactic took down Dan Rather and silenced all legitimate questions about Bush’s service record. We never found out which Republican operative fed CBS the fake documents about Bush.

Nitpicking seems to be all they have left...well, that and spooling up hilariously absurd lies about Harris, Walz and Biden to hide the fact that Trump's not able to present a cogent argument about their favorite complaints against the Democrats along with a lot of his cult members are in the same class of special ed retards. Can anyone actually imagine Trump taking a deep dive into economic issues when he can't seem to digest the simple facts about tariffs and how it negatively affects the people he thinks he's impressing? Or him trying to explain the nuances of foreign diplomacy or the intricacies of how our intelligence services operate to protect us from foreign adversaries like Russia and China, of whom he wishes he could emulate their authoritarian forms of gov't right here at home?

Rex Tillerson nailed his description of Trump as well as a phalanx of highly regarded military leaders and notorious former cabinet members of Trump who called him out for what and who he actually is in real life.

I've gotten about a half dozen texts from the Trump campaign or outside groups in the last couple days. Whoever is doing their targeting is piss poor at it because there is certainly no reason they should be wasting time with me.

Today I door-knocked in Bucks County, PA. A place where they apparently call themselves the swingiest county in the swingiest of states. My doorknocking partner and I had 44 homes on our list. The other two folks in our car in our carpool had 35 homes on their list in the same neighborhood, so we split up and we hit them all. We had seven contacts out of the 44. The first half hour nobody answered. Then we started meeting people.

It was pretty consistent, everytime we'd hit an address with only one older person on the list (40 or oler) as a D, the person in our app, it was always a woman, not the husband. That was the registered D. And as my knocking partner corroborated, when she came two weeks back, there were a lot of split households. So midway through we hit a home with just a 60 year old woman on the list as a D. We also saw registered Independents on our app. Anyway, at this house with just the one registered D voter, an older gentleman came out, her husband. So immediately I knew he was a registered R. He was. At first we were feeling him out but after a minute he said we are all voting straight blue. We had a great talk. Turns out he was a lifelong Republican. He did vote for Obama once, but he said otherwise in general in all local, state, and federal elections he voted R like 99% of the time. He's like we gotta get this fucking guy out. Maybe in ten years I'll have a Republican party to go back to, but for now we gotta get rid of him. He also worked in a chemical industry. He said the Trump tariffs fucked him out a bunch of money (due to tariffs on a rare chemical). He said multiple times that Trump is a fucking idiot that doesn't understand how things work, he's stupid. Plus he stated that Trump was clearly a sick terrible individual. Anyways that was absolutely amazing. He also stated their daughter who was from elsewhere in PA, was a solid D voter. That shit lit a fire of hope in me. These people are truly out there!

We talked to one other R. Thirty something guy. His sister and wife were both solid D, but he didn't like either candidate. We had a nice back and forth. On economic issues he was basically a misinformed Libertarian but at the end of our discussion, he let it slip that Trump was a disease on the R party. So I said look, to get rid of that disease, you have to get rid of it, then claim the party back. He was happy to engage and we had a good long talk, but the vibe was he could not say he'd vote Kamala. I bet if she was a straight white guy he would, not even because of conscious bias, but implicit bias. I left it at - look, you admitted Trump was a disease, you gotta get rid of him, but if you end up not being able to pull the lever for Harris, just write someone in or leave it blank.

We talked to one woman who was very D but said she didn't bother with putting up a sign because they get stolen so often. The old dude I mentioned before told us about this rich ass dude who owned like a gym/club type place would send out dudes to steal them, he had a bunch at his club. He said that guy was a crazy Trumper. Anyway so this woman who said she didn't bother putting up a sign, when we mentioned the old guys story, she said of course I know who he means. Everyone does. She said he got into legal trouble because he went to Jan 6th, and arranged for three busses of people to go there. Now he was on a revenge tour for facing some repercussions. So just a stereotypical shitty rich white Trumper.

Anyways, it felt great to talk to voters, especially that one dude, but really even the other dude too. My knocking partner told me about her phone banking experiences which were mostly great too, so I'll be putting in some hours phonebanking until the election.

We saw signs for both parties, but they were all fairly typical - but I'd never seen this one before online or anywhere so far.

Hey man. If you're ever in bucks county again let me get you a drink. you are doing the work that needs to be done! I know i personally would be totally unable to do this job and probably flip out at any trump voter i encounter, which would probably be the opposite of trying to talk reason to them. LOL. The asshole gym guy you're talking about is Jim Worthington and he owns the Newtown Athletic Club, which is about a half mile away from my house. This dude's family are a bunch of scumbags, WAY before trump. around 2010 his son bit the ear off of someone in a barfight in newtown, mike tyson style. jim is notorious for going out to dinner and filming the people waiting on him just to be a douche. He was one of trump's first early supporters in 2016 and was an elector. AND he was personally responsible for bussing a bunch of people to the insurrection, but any accusation of that will get you slapped with a lawsuit from him. I have a bunch of liberal friends who look the other way and still patronize the gym because it's so convenient and offers child care, but i want to vomit every time i drive past it. This year, he is handing out trump signs to everyone who wants one and is removing all of the harris signs from the immediate vicinity.

So I understand the media's downplaying what Trump says and does. But I really don't listen to the media anyways. I do watch clips from his rallies and various other videos with him in them. I don't care what the Media says or doesn't say about him, with his own words I can't understand how even his most loyal cult follower can listen to one of his speeches with no problem. And then make fun of Kamala for her "word salad" I've heard more coherent speech from a 3 year old who's brain is still in early development. It's almost like Kamala making sense causes a lot of people to be unable to understand her. Could she do better? Of course, but Trump couldn't do much worse. Sharks? death by electrocution from a boat battery? Something about Arnold Palmers penis?

If I was a Trump loyalist who watched all his speeches, I think my brain might turn be mush and I'd struggle to understand when a normal person spoke too. And the most I've heard from his mouth when it comes to his policies if he gets elected. He has some vague ideas for a draft of a potential plan that could replace Obama Care. With all the lying he does you'd think he'd at least talk about it like he has an actual plan, even if he doesn't lol. He's admitting all he has is some ideas. And any sane person knows his ideas are terribad. While Kamala's no Obama or Bill when it comes to her speeches, she's pretty decent. And the difference between her and Trump talking is like the difference between sex and being in a fist fight.

Sorry, that's a really poor analogy, but I can't think of 2 things that are more contrasting lol.
