I want this!

In an absolutely perfect world it would be in a grey colour with light wood but I need to find this in the UK!
It’s not exactly the same, but have you looked at the Fractal North cases?

Ahh grasshopper! In an absolutely perfect world, you need not!

It is not the case that must change, but you. Your eyes should not bring happiness, it is fleeting.

It is better to want and not have, than not want and yet have what is finite.

What will you want next?

Kidding aside, I'd never pay regular price for any case, let alone a luxury case. My cases get put under a desk, out of the way and where I never see them, as it should be. The case that isn't there, is more luxury than the one you see.

Even so, I appreciate your having what you want, but i couldn't find any UK retailers of the wooded version.

I like the north XL a lot, particularly the pale version. Weirdly, for a big case, it doesn't have space for a lot of 2.5 inch drives though. I'm guessing that I could squeeze a few extra SSDs in there using velcro but for a case that big it seems a bit off.

Can you not even get it with a whopping P&P / sales tax charge?

- edit - I'm surprised that it's not available from the Asus shop.

I don't mind paying a bit more for a case that makes my life easier, I don't buy them very often. I'll have to look up when I bought my last one. It's a Silverstonetek aluminium one. Huge, lasted forever but the hard drive section is just taking up space now!

I'm going to nag some of the bigger resellers!

It weighs 16kg unpacked so I think getting it delivered from the States might be a bit spendy. Plus I'd worry about it getting trashed in transit and not being able to get a replacement.

I was going to nag ASUS directly but they seem hard to contact!

Found an old review! Released in 2006 so I've really got my money's worth out of it! Although I've added a few things like usb3 for the front connectors and stuff.

So it looks like this isnt stocked in the UK and neither ASUS UK or a couple of major resellers have any knowledge of it becoming available.

My options would be importing one which will be expensive and risky. Or getting the regular version and painting the glass panel.
Slightly worried about colour matching the rest of the case if I do that and it looking a bit shoddy in general if I do. Anyone have any experience of doing that? I really, really dont want a glass window.

Part of the reason you're having trouble finding that case is that it was released in 2020 in Germany, so the rest of the world may just be getting new old stock
Here's a couple of leads.

Oooh, only £20 delivery on that as well! Lead time of 1 to 2 months but I can cope with that.
You dont know if the new stock is a different revision or when it'll be available?

Thank you so much though!

How many 2.5" do you require? You could probably get two 3.5" mounting kits for a total of 6 2.5" in the fractal North XL.

Looking at the North XL page it says that it'll fit 4 2.5" drives (if you use the 2 3.5" spots for 2.5" ones). I'd rather not get a big case then have to cludge it to fit in any more drives. I mean I could make 4 work but I'd rather not have to!

Anyway I've ordered the ProArt wood edition from Amazon.De so I'll see how that works! Also has the advantage of fitting a 420 AIO rad in the top and is just generally a bit bigger (I'm not constrained for space).

Holy smokes, $369 CAD! It's pretty, but not that pretty.

edit: Hm, apparently this wasn't the wood version. Glad you found it.
