Shouldn't need to.Do I still need to install the Amd driver for the igpu?
Yeah it has some improvements (and increased costs) better VRM, better audio codec, Wi-Fi 7, newer chipset, USB4 but I don't think they'll do "value" X870E boards, so the Nova is probably the closest.I think the Nova is very similar to this board. I almost picked this one up.
Have new water block OTW. Man I hate acrylic tubing now. All because no VRM water cooling. Wonder if there are any universal Heatkiller ones that would fit?
EDIT: M.2 will be either next week, if I can go 8TB, or maybe before on a 4TB.
Any suggestions, on some of the Team Group drives or less expensive ones vs the SS 990 pro or WD Black SNX850 870? I don't recall the secondary number.
Windows update will install one. Unless you've disabled the iGPU in the bios, then it doesn't matter at all.Quick question. I'm using a 3080 with my 9900x. Do I still need to install the Amd driver for the igpu?
Avoid ASUS for B650 motherboards. Go with either Gigabyte or MSI. 9950X, you have to flash the latest BIOS to support it.Just had my 3rd Raptor degrade on me. After 30+ years of Intel I'm going to move to AMD.
I would like to have a smooth build but don't know much about AMD builds.
My requirements are mATX board, fits under my desk, case that is.
I'll go 9950X. Not a big gamer, only use my Arc750 for accelerating PureRaw, Vegas Pro, Topaz photo/video AI, etc...
Looking that his board. Okay?

Looking at this RAM as it is on the QVL list for the mobo: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BF8FVLSL/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_7?smid=A3TOECTKC4OEBD&th=1
Igor from these boards told me go with this one, it's be okay even though it's not QVL.
I have no problem spending a bit more on RAM to get to the performance sweet spot but I don't know where that is?
Anything else to look out for. You can see my system specs in my sig and I'll be reusing everything but the mobo and RAM. Might pick up a new SSD since I'm starting over actually.
Thanks for any tips.
I have the 6000 stuff, but MAYBE the 6400 is OK, I just won't say for sure.Just had my 3rd Raptor degrade on me. After 30+ years of Intel I'm going to move to AMD.

What's to watch out for on the Asus B650 mobos? I got one with a Microcenter combo and didn't read reviews beforehand.Avoid ASUS for B650 motherboards. Go with either Gigabyte or MSI. 9950X, you have to flash the latest BIOS to support it.

I use B650 Gigabyte board and I like it, no issues.
Other mobos offer better slots and ports and the price is a bit lower. Better VRM cooling too. What's to watch out for on the Asus B650 mobos? I got one with a Microcenter combo and didn't read reviews beforehand.
I know you like more threads but consider the 7800X3D or 9800X3D coz their extra cache can help keep things smoother in heavy MT loads, particularly OS UI responsiveness. 7950X3D is also an option.I'll go 9950X.
The 9800X3D results give slight hope core parking will no longer be an issue as the X3D CCD will be universally the better CCD of the two.The prospects for 9950X3D performance has made me reconsider just riding out until Z6 with my 7950X. And that's despite the added core parking and prioritization shenanigans.
And hence the more likely a dual CCD vcache is. If the 9700X is already memory starved because of the IOD you can only guess how much a dual CCD will be limited. And if the rumors about threadripper vcache models and APU vcache models are true, then I think AMD is going full vcache. And with the lack of competition, they can simply set the price they want to maximize profits. The 9800X3D results give slight hope core parking will no longer be an issue as the X3D CCD will be universally the better CCD of the two.
Outside of enterprise, I think AMD has never set draconian prices after their resurgence with Ryzen. I could be wrong, in which case citation is welcomeAnd with the lack of competition, they can simply set the price they want to maximize profits.
No, I don't think they'll go completely bonkers but with the 7950X3D being ~$600 ATM and if they do dual vcache CCD's I wouldn't be surprised to see a launch price @ $799 for a 9950X3D.Outside of enterprise, I think AMD has never set draconian prices after their resurgence with Ryzen. Oh, my definition of a draconian price point is like the ones set by Apple. People pretend that they are giving a great deal at their prices but I spent a lot of time doing a cost analysis and it just didn't make sense for me to go M4, even though I have the cold hard cash. I prefer not to be ripped off because I don't earn my keep by ripping off other people.

Its $640 at AMD.comNo, I don't think they'll go completely bonkers but with the 7950X3D being ~$600 ATM and if they do dual vcache CCD's I wouldn't be surprised to see a launch price @ $799 for a 9950X3D.
I think that's not bad value for people who absolutely need that much power (best gaming and productivity performance). Sure, they could offer it at a lower price but then people who don't really need this much power will scoop it up and the people with the real need will have to pay scalper prices or wait until the part is restocked. AMD can't make enough to satisfy demand. That's why Intel is still relevant.if they do dual vcache CCD's I wouldn't be surprised to see a launch price @ $799 for a 9950X3D.
