A laser printer and a MICR toner. Cuz wife wants to print cheques. Never mind people deposit cheques with their phone taking a picture now...

Yes, a re-manufactured toner cartridge filled with MICR toner costs 22% more than the printer.

Partly because HP toners need a new chip... And third party toner makers mostly make MICR toner for HP...

This is why I keep my cheap Samsung (now under HP) wireless laser. Got it for $40 in late 2018; the starting toner lasted for 4-5 years given now little we print, and a replacement third party toner was like $20.

I still have my Brother MFC-8480DN but there is no MICR toner for it.

I bought a new pair of cargo pants. They fit well.

Wranglers. Olive green. Pales in comparison to that hella epic laptop though.

6" 400CFM inline fan. Going to run ductwork from my wood stove in basement to the other end of the house to living room area and install a new floor register to help move the heat more effectively where it's needed.

Been running the furnace on blower only mode to try to do that but it has not been cutting it. This will grab air directly from where the ceiling above the wood stove. this should be a more direct way to move air directly from wood stove to the coldest part of the house. I will also need to add a return vent somewhere for make up air. I may actually experiment with running it in reverse. Taking cold air from living room area and pushing it over the wood stove. I've read this is more effective, even though it feels counter intuitive.

You probably should have just bought a woodburning add on furnace to begin with instead of cobbling all this together.

They are way more expensive and much more involved to install. It had crossed my mind but was not ready to go through that much effort and money to install one. I also would still want to keep the gas furnace as main heat, this is more for supplementary heat and to save on gas.

Last time I wrote a check was like 10 years ago.

If you own a passport.. you have to write a check for a renewal.

And if you invest.. some places still prefer an actual check vs digital transfer.

When I have to write a "check" for any reason, I get a money order from the post office. It's worth the couple dollars for me to not have to deal with a checkbook and checks, and I also like that it's guaranteed funds. Checks are bullshit. You get a check, you still aren't sure if you've gotten paid yet. It's step 2 of a 3 step(hopefully!) process. It also gives some money to USPS, cause I believe in USPS, regardless of what the fucktards think.

I picked up a cool waterproof light weight shell today. Expensive, but it hopefully is better than the Columbia I currently have that leaks after just 5 minutes in the rain. I like that it is a quieter fabric and not noisy and krinkly.

The fan I ordered came in. Also decided to go the cheap/easy route and use flex duct instead of solid for the complicated part of the run, as there would have been quite a lot of elbows involved and those are like $10 each so it adds up. The 25' flex line was $50.

Running a test now to see if it will heat up the crawlspace, before I start making holes in my floor. End goal is to automate this so it turns on automatically if the temperature above the wood stove is above a certain set point, like 30C or something.

It finally arrived after being pre-ordered in the summer! It's like buying something twice, you pre-order it and get excited, months go by, then you get all excited when it randomly shows up 5 months later!

Just picked up a Canon RF100-400 f/5.6-8 IS lens at a local camera shop. Traded in my last EF lens, and then took advantage of their big sale where they cover the sales tax and give a discount for also donating a can of food.

I bought a whole-house surge protector. I'll probably install it this weekend. The power here is good but you know, whatever.

I also bought a bandsaw. I've wanted one for a long time and kept putting it off because anytime I started researching them, I always ended up increasing my budget and trying to justify a big/expensive one. I went for the cheap one and it's perfect for what I need - cutting small pieces of wood from slightly larger pieces of wood, or cuts that wouldn't be safe/feasible on the table saw.

For a cheap Chinese saw, it actually cuts clean and straight. I was able to resaw some 2" thick (4" tall) cherry with no issues at all, even being able to cut off a nearly paper-thin slice. I put a 1/4" Timberwolf blade on it and made sure it was set up as good as I could get it using the Alex Snodgrass Band Saw Clinic video (definitely worth a watch).
