This gets filed with all those other unbelievable posts from MAGA folks.
I’ll file this in the tell me about something that didn’t happen bin.

I work with a 25 yo woman who wants to start a family with her hubs. He’s obsessed with amateur car racing and she supports his obsession but it probably cuts deep into their finances. They have almost nothing saved for a down payment, and she’s out there shopping for 250k houses.

I’ve encountered a number of Gen z adults who have an alarming misunderstanding personal finance, or like, numbers in general.

Curious as to when they “find out.”

Anything bad that happens in the next 4 years, his cult will blame Biden for something he did while in office, or it's the Dems cockblocking him out of revenge. No matter how big of a shitstorm the next 4 years are, 100% not Trump's fault. And if he accomplishes nothing similar to 2016, they'll still cheer "greatest president ever!" While I'm biased, I also have common sense, far beyond me not liking him I see that pretty much every single person who worked for him his 1st go 'round either doesn't support him, or is on a mission to speak out about how he's a terrible human being who's completely unfit to be president. Nobody who was close to him has anything good to say about him. Dick fuckin Cheney doesn't support him. That guy's as GOP as they come. How MAGAs aren't concerned at all that nobody from Trumps circle supported him is crazy. And they're fine with him wanting to go after and throw people in jail who, Heaven forbid wanted to seek justice against a criminal.

I believe in God, but it's hard to right now because Trump uses God so much in his bullshit to pull the MAGAs in deeper. And what happens? He got rewarded by winning the election which all but eliminated his legal worries. It's hard for me to fathom how God would allow Trump's fuckery to continue forever, but he apparently can do whatever the hell he wants.
I don't believe the existence of a supreme deity, but I do believe in the existence of dumb people.

He won't be on the ticket in 4 years, so does it really matter?

They don't care because the question isn't is Trump a POS, scumbag, rapist, narcissist etc. It's what he's promising to do for them, and if he gets something for himself while doing it? That's fine by them, as long as they get what was promised. Some people think that a leader should be a POS or whatever.

I know there are plenty of votes to still count but it’s unlikely that there will be more votes than 2020 and I think that says a lot about what happened. I think there is a large chunk of the electorate that is simply burnt out. The right has done a masterful job of flooding the zone with shit, whether it be culture wars or just trumps rhetoric and the insanity spewed from other righties. It’s a lot to have to deal with to people who actually care about the country and so they’ve checked out. They fucked around and now they are about to find out.

I think the best move for Dems is to lay low and let the republicans hang themselves like they do every time they get into office. That won’t happen though as democrats always put country first and can’t just let a dumpster fire burn. The republicans for decades have proven without a doubt that partisanship is what Americans want, the more partisan and the least amount of compromise the better. Clearly trying to appeal to disaffected republicans was a losing strategy for Harris.

Democrats best option is to play the game as it stands and do whatever it takes to gain control in the future where and if that happens they should put in all the safeguards and reforms our democracy needs. Anything other than that is a losing strategy.

What was promised and how will they know they got it?

Except he’s promising to make their lives worse.

If you want real amusement ask about their car payments.

He promised to deport immigrants and put tarrifs on China and Mexico and stop wokeness

Of course, but "be careful what you wish for" isn't exactly a new thing.

OK you provided an answer for half the question but what about the other part?

What metric will they see that says immigrants have been deported?

Tariffs are self explanatory.

How will they know wokeness has been stopped?

I'm good with this. Pass everything the senate and trump requests, and put their names on it. The DJT deportation bill. The Vance Couchfucker 'gas the darkies' bill. Just go whole hog, everything they want. Collapse the whole nation and let's move past it, like a modern version of the Empire in the Foundation series.

Sorry, just missed it when I read.

Immigrants getting deported is pretty easily seen, of course the question should be - how many deportation are enough. He's claimed 20+ million illegal immigrants...
How will they know wokeness has been stopped?
They'll probably try to setup more rules/laws against trans in sports (e.g. try to find ways to remove trans from Women sports), reduce gay marriage rights, other nonsense laws regarding underage trans other such things.
We'll see what they do, but some of the promises have real actions that they could act on.

Fox news will probably say that everything is great of course, but that's nothing out of the norm.

Much of your troubles will solve itself when a new pandemic hits with RFK jr. in control of CDC and Musk having saved 2 Trillion on "useless" pencil pushers.

I’ll get the vaccine but I’ll be sure to be in public while sick to infect as many people as possible. Got to thin the herd, right?

Weasel Bezos crushed another traditional endorsement:

Marty Baron, the former executive editor of the Washington Post, criticized the newspaper’s decision, calling it “cowardice, with democracy as its casualty”.

Donald Trump, Baron said, will “see this as an invitation to further intimidate the owner” of the Washington Post, the billionaire Jeff Bezos. “Disturbing spinelessness at an institution famed for courage,” he added.

Bezos is a simpering coward. He undoubtedly remembers how Trump took vengeance on Amazon by taking a $10 billion contract away from Amazon, because the Post was criticizing Trump. Now he claims this action is to protect the integrity of journalism, as if he actually has "principles" other than protecting his personal fortune.

Fuck Amazon. I already dumped them 2 years ago after they treated me like garbage. And I already planned to never go back even before Bezos and the current CEO gave slobbering congratulations to Trump.
