We all know Trump was more than likely lying when he distanced himself from his Project 2025 plan so...

This thread exists to call out any time a part of that plan is put into action in real time.

I know, it's two months early but, hey. We can start the discussion by listing here the initial actions called for in the first 30-90 days of the plan.

There's gonna be a LOT of US citizens who will be deported for "Mexican sounding names". They will basically be stripped of citizenship and deported, and have to prove in court at great expense the deportation was in error. That's just a minor problem compared to the pain this idiotic choice will bring us all.

But hey, ownin' da libs, was all that mattered anyway, right?

Yeah, I wouldn't bet on citizens who get swept up in this ever managing to make it back. I'm sure they'll make it basically impossible.

This is deeply true.

I have spent a significant amount of mental and emotional energy over the last 8+ years sincerely trying to understand how and why so many people can seemingly absorb so much cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy supporting an obvious degenerate like Donald Trump. There are answers, but they are all profoundly depressing.

So when I woke up this morning to see that he won, the only thing I can think about is how I can force myself to not care about anything outside myself and my immediate circle. And that is precisely the Republican message.

From the people I talk to this seems like a pretty common reaction today. My husband is actually a little worried how I can be so calm, though tbf I entertained the possibility of a Trump win as a live thing since at least last year. Anyway this doesn't mean that I will ever support a Republican candidate, the party, or vote for such people as long as I draw breath. I also perhaps have a more cynical view of America and Americans having read a lot of our history over the years which is pretty replete with terrible shit.

This country is so so fucked. About thirty of us showed up for an impromptu meeting of my local progressive group to just talk and process what has happened and to explore our next steps, politically or not, earlier this evening.

It was good to get out and be with the good and decent people vs the others. I think one of the bigger takeaways was that we were not prepared for how many utterly shitty people there are in this country.

I will be involved in local and state races next year starting in the spring for the primaries, but otherwise, I'm kinda checked out about this country overall on any kind of federal level, I just want to enjoy my amazing NYC bubble while it lasts, and make plans to get the fuck out. Could be just an initial reaction but honestly, the thought of escaping this country is one of the big things keeping me feeling as ok as I am. I chatted with my friend from childhood, who was from Germany, and moved back there. He moved to Denmark a few years ago and is happy to chat with me with help about making a move.

I'm curious to see how fast they set up the deportation stuff, as well as if they go for a national abortion ban in year one.

Yeah it's going to be somewhat entertaining when immigrants who voted for trump get deported and act surprised, they've already been pushing the idea that certain legal immigrants don't count and are really illegal so it should have been obvious.

I think what's likely to happen if he goes whole hog is that many US citizens caught up will simply get deported and there will be no legal mechanism for them to return (or made so complex as to be effectively impossible).

Funny you picked that.. I also had thoughts that the Haitian legal immigrants (who did not vote for Trump) are going to be guilty of eating the dogs and cats and high on the list of getting deported back.
