If you want real amusement ask about their car payments.
That's not just young people. If I ask anyone how much their car cost, they can only give me the monthly payment.
They don't know how much it cost. My family has car dealerships, and when customers are asked what they want to spend, they say, "oh, no more than $500 a month" or some silly shit. No concept of cost,

That is what smells. The pre election polling on womens rights and democracy and immigrants... It doesnt vibe with the outcome. Are you sure the tallies are legit? Trump even won the popular right? That is so fucking weird. What were their approval ratings again?
So... America still has 50 states. 50 ways of doing this.
And apparently our losses were across the board. Everything everywhere gave MAGA more votes than ever before.

It is definitely real, and as that student who voted can attest... MAGA is.. *checks notes* Pro-Choice. According to one voter.
The implications of such stupidity is both astounding and realized.
It is what it is.

If you still need to reconcile it. Remember, victory in 2020 was timed to let Joe Biden (and Democrats at large) get stuck holding the bag for COVID. The consequences of the global pandemic fell on the victors of the last election. Resulting in consequences for this election. The voters HATE high prices. And they HATE the incumbents who "gave it to them".

I'm saying, they voted for a strongman, they can enjoy all the benefits of that, including war declarations to centralize power, just like all the other despots do.

18-29yos turn into meat in a foreign country under a despot. See Russia.
Here's a news flash, everyone gets to eat the same Trump shit sandwich for 4 years (and probably longer depending on SCROTUS and legislation).

The "benefits" enjoyed won't be confined to Trump voters in red states, although blue state residents will be somewhat insulated.

We don't conduct our wars the way Russia does, so even if there was a WW3, it's not going to kill off hundreds of thousands of younger Americans who voted for Trump. Not that anybody would think that's good public policy anyhow, so it's mind-boggling that you would repeat the suggestion.

Has it not been true, until yesterday, that "you can win a primary with him but you will lose a general" ?

Seems to me to have been the pattern. Yet suddenly. Popular vote.

Oh I'm sorry, are you under the impression that there's people Trump actually likes? Do you think a despot gives a flickering shit about any specific voting bloc? I'm not saying specifically Trump voters will be eating the shit sandwich, I'm saying America will. As a whole. If the virgin voters want Trump, the can die nutless in some shithole country.

What happens if Trump gets cardiac arrest from eating McDonalds fries and the US has to make do with JD Vance?
I could be wrong, but Vance is more of a conventional conservative. So dictatorship and outright corruption should be averted. I mean the overt corruption for personal gain; the political corruption for oligarchs and corporate gain will obviously continue.

He won't stay more than 4 years without a civil war. Scotus or whatever can decide whatever they want, blue states will defect in that case.

Trump won and lost both previous elections by < 100k voters across a few key states.
His victory this time was ALWAYS a risk.

As for what changed this time. I hope I already explained it. Incumbency.
Dems got stuck holding the bag for COVID. That was a serious consequence.

TBD. Mail in California is going to take a while. A one or two seat majority for either party however spells great difficulty for probably everything that isn't a tax deal.
"Great difficulty" may be something to be wished for for at least the next 2 years considering who will be in the White House, the balance of power in the Senate and SCOTUS.

No, I'm saying none of what you wrote makes any sense. But I don't really care anymore.

Feel free to explain it, perhaps I missed something.

State governments need to crush the dealerships. Most of those are directly funding the Republican apparatus, and standing in the way of helping people break from mandatory car-centric life.

IIRC it was a Trump decision that was kind of forced on Biden, but the execution was bad.
The execution was always going to be bad. Trump cut a shit deal with the Taliban and released a ton from captivity while also freezing out the Afghan National Government. We flew over 100k people out in like 10 days as the government collapsed - pretty good if you ask me. The alternative was to re-escalate.

We can Monday morning quarterback it all we want, but it was always going to be shit. And instead of standing up for the administration, they just got shat on by everyone.
Media gets what it wants with 4 more years of Trump.
The media can continue their spiral into irrelevancy. It's pretty clear that it has been the ultimate goal of the rich people who have taken over many papers. Your worldview can be fluid and shaped by your algorithm, instead of grounded in the hard truths of reality.

Bezos is a simpering coward. He undoubtedly remembers how Trump took vengeance on Amazon by taking a $10 billion contract away from Amazon, because the Post was criticizing Trump. Now he claims this action is to protect the integrity of journalism, as if he actually has "principles" other than protecting his personal fortune.

Fuck Amazon. I already dumped them 2 years ago after they treated me like garbage. And I already planned to never go back even before Bezos and the current CEO gave slobbering congratulations to Trump.

While I don't disagree that he's a coward, Trump's one of the most petty people out there. Citizen Trump's annoying, but pretty harmless. President Trump's terrifying. Anyone on his bad side is going to feel his wrath now he's reelected. It's tough to imagine what I'd do if I was in a position of power like Bezos and had the thought of retribution from Trump if I did anything he didn't like hovering over me. And Trump's not even being sly about it. He said at multiple rallies when he wins, revenge is his. I really think he's going to ruin some good people's lives because he feels they treated him unfairly or were a traitor because they supported the other side.

And his supporters are on his side in getting back the people who targeted him. We're in for a ride like we've never seen.

Lots of young people voted for Trump. Young people are used for military action. Young people may be tapped for whatever expeditionary actions Trump decides to perform, with or without Congressional approval.

Young people can eat the bed they picked to lay in.

I would recommend that you take the time to think about when Trump was last held accountable and how being held accountable altered his behaviour for the better.
He didn't fire Fauci because he knew he'd lose credibility and gain plenty of bad PR. He fired lots of people, yes, but it was trouble for him. He gained enemies among his jettisoned staff. He was dragged into court tons of times. At least he couldn't rape anybody while sitting in front of a judge.

Fuck the tens of millions of voters who decided to put a crybaby pseudo tough guy fascist who couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it in charge of this country AGAIN! The billionaires who decided they’d make more money with a autocrat in charge. The non-voters who sat on the fence saying both party's suck. The media for pretending that the strongman wasn’t a strongman and wasn’t clearly insane and wasn’t deteriorating mentally before our very eyes. All the racists, bigots and misogynists. The judges who let the wannabe fascist off the hook. The system that refuses to hold the wealthy responsible for their actions and allows the rich to buy elections. The founding fathers for inventing the abomination that is the Electoral College. The right-wing media for running the most shameless, damaging, self-enriching, long-running con seen in this country since the collapse of Reconstruction. The mainstream “liberal” media for being complicit, compliant, and complacent. All of you that claimed “If only the Democrats had approached things differently and spoke softly and with understanding, etc. perhaps the Republicans would have "listened” while conveniently ignoring the hatred, bile and lies those selfsame Republicans guzzled by the gallon from their own kind. The people who don't think he will kiss up to strongmen for no good goddamned reason so that his bestie Putin will give him a cute little smile. Those of you don't think he'll weaken NATO and embolden bad actors everywhere. Those of you who don't think countries will seize the opportunity to do what they want while this dumbass is in charge. Those of you who think Trump understands tariffs or anything at all.

The United States, having suspended its descent into Hell the last 4 years, chose last night to go the rest of the way back in. He told you what he was going to do. You decided you wanted it. So now we have this great experiment, its flaws exposed and exploited by an authoritarian lunatic and his personality cult. When the lunacy starts, remember that you had a choice, and the choice was stark. This wasn’t a question of a few minor policy differences. I used to wonder how autocrat dictators who have shown their true colors for everyone to see for almost a decade could be elected to power. After yesterday, I don’t wonder anymore. We survived a civil war but failed to kill the ethos that caused it, and it took 160 years but they finally finished the job. Good luck, we deserve everything that is coming to us. And to the rest of the world, I’m sorry. Apparently, this IS who we are.

Read Project 2025

Republicans have the whole government. They have told us, explicitly, what they intend to do and they have the means to do it. Why would you doubt them?

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” - Maya Angelou

Watch them trying to figure out legislature to take away guns from dems and libs but leave "patriots" alone...
Look into how they did things in Germany a hundred years ago and extrapolate. SCOTUS is probably willing to rubber-stamp whatever is required. Arming oneself prior to January is probably a prudent option for those citizens concerned.

Obama should have completed the withdrawal in 2015 and let what was always going to occur happen.

There is also the east coast port strike which is set to recommence Jan 15 unless a full agreement is done.
