a) You train the cats to not be on food prep surfaces, and b) you fucking clean your house. Who doesn't clean a space prior to prepping food on it? Back when I was doing hazmat cleanups, we used to require the employees to wear dust masks. Not because there was airborne contamination but because it kept them from putting their fingers in their mouths.
