What a ride it has been. We went from the haters celebrating Zen5% and how lame that is because we needed more gaming performance than that generationally. To Arrow coming out and being a disaster. So the cope kicked in hard with the "People do more than game on their PC you know!"
Then the 9800X3D launching, and suddenly none of us need that much CPU for gaming.

One thing to add to this though is that the CPU tends to have an outsize improvement in big RPGs in specific maps or areas, in a way that benchmarks don't always show because it only happens there. I saw this in the Byzantium area of Outer Worlds going from 10700K to 7800X3D. GN said BG3 had a 26% gain like this, much bigger than other games.Great cpu but not necessarily that much faster than 7800X3D for 4K gaming except a few edge cases like flight simulator. Not sure it's worth the upgrade for a purely gaming focused PC. I'll probably get it at some point from MC but not right away.
Manageable. For now. If AMD doesn't step up, it could increase as the existing buyers start reselling in the hope of making a cool profit. I can give you a save file in Robocop: Rogue City that tanks fps well below 60 fps at any resolution with 7950x3d . Praise the magic of UE5 and its physics engine!480p
