Disinfecting would require using products that blows cells up. Baking soda is the safe base. Ammonia and sodium hydroxide disinfect--the former disinfects meat in the meat industry and the latter is hungry for any reactive matter--but they'll take out your good cells too.

Armpits, crotch, ass crack are my only "must wash with soap" areas (of course hands get washed regularly).

Everything else just gets water run over it and does fine.

I've found soap to be useful. My mom always had a bar of Ivory 99.44% pure at the kitchen sink. I do too. It's a cheap no-nonsense, no fragrance soap. I use it in the shower too, with a wash cloth. I am not obsessive about it.

If you've done a lot of "dishes" you know that sometimes cleaning a mess requires the use of some soap.

For a woman I could understand that. But for a man, I don't think anyone's gonna sniff that.

-All I can think of were those reddit threads with women asking how they could stop their SO from leaving shit streaks in the bed (because they thought washing their asshole was gay) and wondering how the hell I was still single.

All I can think of are those stories about all those stinky people who show up at video game / comic conventions.

In the stinky peoples minds they are the normal ones, everyone else is weird

My wife checks out these stories often; there was one where a manager of some random retail store hired a guy who was really attentive in their job but everyone complained about the guy's hygiene. The manager went out, bought a salvo of hygiene products, had a discreet word with the guy, gave him a few pointers and the products, and directed him to the showers. The guy's wife turned up a few days later and thanked the manager profusely.

Back to the topic, it's taken me about twenty years to figure out the right amount of cleaning for my body, and one point in particular is that my legs below the knees don't get anywhere as much attention as the key areas like you suggested (I'd add feet to the list though). I kept getting fungal conditions on my shin of all places until I adopted my current system (my shins/calves get soaped maybe once a month, otherwise just exposure to shower water); in hindsight I think just everyday soaping was enough to break down my skin's defences and let stuff in, combined with friction from trousers and walking). I wasn't ever OCD like scrubbing the hell out of an area that didn't need that much attention, but still, my skin requires gentle maintenance. I'm not a big sweater either.

Some people seem to be more susceptible to fungi. My previous HR officer would keep rubbing alcohol on her hands multiple times a day. She told me that she had really bad experience with a fungal infection. Personally I had Chromomycosis as a kid. It was a pretty significant squamous plaque on the underside of my foot that required liquid nitrogen to be removed. Boy, was that cold!

Soap could make it dirtier if all the family members use it. But if you have your own individual soap, it could lead to have cleanliness.
