Appreciate the response.
Yeah, that was one of the first features I was definitely looking for to winnow out a lot of models.
I've pretty much at this time decided to focus on the FDM side due to the toxicity issues of the resin used with resin printers (my sister has a younger teenager, and I simply couldn't trust that he would willingly abide by the safety measures - gloves and mask - required to deal with it. And, since I can't be there to watch over him, I'm simply not going there for now. So, FDM it is.
I was really looking hard at the Bambu Labs P1P for a while, which looks really fantastic out of the box and which can actually be upgraded to the P1S via an enclosure retrofit kit down the road. However, according to the 3D Printer discord group's printer list, they are also totally 100% proprietary designs. I could live with that, but they also state that Bambu Labs printers have wear parts actually embedded into the frame that can't be serviced or replaced. Definite downside there.
Creality apparently has major QC issues. Not touching that with a 10 foot pole.
I've thus been leaning more towards the Qidi Q1 Pro as it supposedly doesn't have those problems (and which is available via Amazon for the same BF discount as on the Qidi website, so I can use some Amazon points I have saved up). Hate the thought of giving up the ability to eventually use an AMS type system in the future, but it is what it is. Looking at also adding a filament dryer, filament storage box, and a roll each of cheap PLA and PETG filaments as a starter.
I plan to keep on looking for a couple more weeks. Figure prices will skyrocket when Trump starts on his tariff plans after the first of the year.
