I do wonder: is there even a rumor that Strix Point might eventually come to AM5? If so, might it also support CUDIMMs? With uncorked power and fast memory, I wonder what it can achieve?

Probably not a huge priority. Why would anyone want it in AM5, and get slightly crippled 4x Zen 5 cores (half AVX-512), quite crippled 8x Zen 5c, crippled L3, no V-Cache. And as far as I know, Strix Point only supports LPDDR5, not regular DDR5.

Slightly more interesting would be a Strix Point MiniPC or even more interesting, Strix Halo MiniPC.

Any good reviews on the 9800X3D? Also any word of larger core count 3D chips?

I just had a look on Tom's review, looks like an impressive chip. Can't even find the page for it on Newegg currently, OOS on Amazon. I will wait till January at least, see what the other 3D cache variants are like.

It does support DDR5-5600, it says so on the product page.

MSI 9950X3D show it will be worse in games than 9800X3D. Scheduling issues will undoubtedly cause anomalies that will bring its average vs 9800X3D down a bit.
Meh, scheduling issues can be worked around, provided you don’t mind rebooting.
Insane if true. 9950X is going to be an absolute unit of a CPU, especially with new RTX 5090 coming soon. Sad times for intel though, they are being relegated to bulldozer levels of performance.
It is a “must buy” for me when it launches and I have the funds, which should hopefully be soonish.

AMD could also simply use well binned EPYC chiplets for the 12-16 core parts X3D parts. Aren’t they on a 16 core CCX or did that rumor not pan out?

Side note: I miss the days of leaks.

That's the fastest (currently) qualified jedec speed for SO-DIMMs. As for the earlier comment, not everyone will need full implementation AVX-512. The one on Strix is no worse than Zen4, which was praised for it's performance as well. In addition, AMD has stated that the same AGESA changes that improved the cross CCX latencies for the desktop chips also help Strix.

In the end, we already see that Strix in laptops is plenty good enough for most games, with or even (with appropriate settings) without a DGPU. AMD's APUs have had better IMCs than their regular desktop parts and there's no reason to believe that Strix is an exception.

It would make a great ITX chip for compact chassis with good RAM. For an inexpensive 1080p monitor or running a TV, it would be just fine.

I just don't think it will be cheap. The alternative is Kraken, but they appear to have notably reduced it's PCIe capabilities to the point that it doesn't make sense in anything but low end laptops.

As a matter of fact it is worse in some aspects due to "scheduler full" problems, but generally should do better thanks to other improvements
