You have to test it on your system to be sure. Everyone has different configs and plays different games.

How was your experience with 24.9.1 ? I seen a lot of FPS drops, I'm guessing due to driver time-outs? Couldn't tell if it they were from Windows updates or the driver but I rolled back to 24.7.1 a week ago and FPS were higher and more consistent with CS2 and UT4...

Venturing on a new game, picked up Hogwarts Legacy... Would love to see a full release of The Matrix ...

At least for me, 24.9.1 worked alright, though there was the obvious Radeon control panel opening bug that kept popping up after resume, but that wasn't a huge deal.

Haven't found a reason (in the patch notes anyway) to jump off 24.7.1 with my 7800 XT. The only AAA game I play is Hell Let Loose. Am I wrong?

You should be fine, you may not have a reason to upgrade from 24.7.1 for a while.

Also, there is this one thing I have noticed, which may be a bit of a bug with recent driver updates, or at least it happens on my setup: after driver update, if I do a restart later, I get a notice that hardware settings have changed, and to restart the computer. Also, under smart technology in the settings, SAM is disabled until after a second restart. Interestingly, I don't always have to restart after a driver update, so I may enjoy playing games and using the computer for some time before I restart. In fact, I just did a restart a bit earlier, as lately I have been putting the computer to sleep instead of a full shutdown, so technically I have had a fair bit of up time since the driver update. Anyway, I restarted a second time and SAM was working again.

After each Adrenalin driver update I restart the PC (it is not asking for a restart at this point, I just want to do it) and after that I get that "hardware change" notification asking for another restart. This since I got the AMD RX7 600 graphics card about a year ago (previous graphics card was from Nvidia).

I've seen that "hardware has changed" message the last few driver updates and usually do a second reboot after driver install. The SAM thing also notice but a few driver version ago the last few drivers it was enabled after install.

That is a common issue, to make it go away until you update drivers again you can disable the AMD External Events Utility Service.

@Shmee
The issue you reported with the control panel opening up slowly seems to be fixed in this version.
I still have that issue. Right clicking on the desktop is missing the AMD settings option until I do it a second time and the AMD overlay hardware monitoring thing isn't showing up until I manually start the AMD utility.
It's not a massive problem but it's annoying enough that I might go back to an earlier driver.

I don't think what you were describing is the same issue.

The issue was noticeable if you also used the ALT+R shortcut to open the software it was slow to load.

What you are describing above I just checked on my system and that is always there for me don't need to do it twice.

I have noticed that sometimes the panel is still slow to open, but not always.I just opened it, and it was fine and snappy, but this wasn't always the case recently. Though maybe I just needed to do that restart. Not sure.

I restart after ANY driver update as Microsoft has said that there are parts of some drivers that can't be replaced without restarting, even though some driver installs packages fail to tell you it is mandatory for the driver to be fully updated.

Yeah, its definitely that option. Doesnt show up the first time after a restart, and doesnt show up on a right click if its not been opened for awhile.

Yeah this feature/bug is only happening on WIN10. We have to restart the system 2 times after a driver update

24.10.1 is totally unuseable for me now, I cant open it at all. All my games run fine but I cant access any driver settings.

Just downloading some older drivers to try those.

So just installing 24.7.1 seems to have fixed things.
I gave 24.10.1 a fair go. Reinstalled it, reinstalled it with a factory reset, reinstalled it after using DDU to scub all the old drivers away, it just doesnt like my PC!

Next time use the AMD clean up utility some say it works better than DDU.

I feel like I get this problem when Windows would decide to install it's own preferred driver randomly. Finally put that to bed when I dug up the setting to stop installing Windows Update drivers automatically.

I've had that before (with more obscure hardware) but windows is usually fairly well behaved about not updating GPU drivers!
Pretty sure I've told windows not to do that and not to install related software. That said windows absolutely doesn't stick to what you tell it there!

Indeed. The panel never opens when there is a mismatch between the control panel version and the driver version, and almost always caused by funky Windows Updates.

Thankfully i've never had this issue on windows 10. I believe it set that once like 4 years ago and never had to look at it again.
