It's nice to see these gains in equities short term. I suspect things will settle down in January/February.
Yep. Investors are enjoying the pointless rate cut and the prospect of even lower taxes at the highest income levels right now. If it becomes apparent that the incoming administration really is going to implement the rest of their promised agenda, the market will tank.

Yeah it is pretty tempting to rotate out a bit of my US market positions. I’m at like 80-85% US equities right now. Maybe later this month or early December. May also just shut off future contributions and route them towards cash and medium term treasuries.

It's times like this when people start making mistakes. The best advice for any retail investor is to stay the course with what has been working.

Diversify your portfolio. Average in. Don't worry about the what ifs.

I feel like I just need to rebalance some of my tax advantaged accounts. My current 401k allows auto rebalancing, which I just set up to be semi-annual. But I should take the same steps on my Vanguard held accounts to ensure my investments haven't drifted too far from my target percentages.

Not stocks per se, but I have noticed the coins have been mooning lately. New ATH for BTC, and though ETH is going up again, it is still far off the ATH.

Expectations for inflation went up "bigly"

Thus the increase in all risk-on assets.

We are seeing a lot of gains in small and mid cap. I have VB, MDY and IJH which are growing well. The consensus is that since large cap has largely outperformed, its small and mids turn. Also its believed that the Trump administration will allow more M&A in this space. M&A is usually big companies buying small companies at a premium.

Maybe I'm stupid but I ruled out investing in crypto due to the volatility.

Was too expensive for me at $1000, definitely out of my reach at $100k.

I don't understand how it really works.

Can someone know the right approach to investing and making good profits from cryptocurrency investments?

Because I am seeing people becoming millionaires while I've played it safe in annuities and was looking at index funds.

Edit: I mean you still really have to sell it to someone.. just like real estate or index funds or stocks. Seems like a ponzi scheme.. did you have these fears when you invested and felt like you just took a calculated risk vs entire portfolio??

It's gambling, plain and simple. The only way to make money is to find a greater fool.

lol. Last I checked gambling doesn’t pay dividends and doesn’t result in partial ownership of a money-making entity.
The better analogy is that the stock market is gambling where you are the casino. You may win or lose on any given bet, but overall the odds are tilted towards income coming from the businesses you own and into your pocket.

Crypto generally has no underlying incoming profit to funnel into your pocket. Like @IronWing said, you gain in crypto by the greater fool strategy. The only profits come from finding some other person willing to pay more than you did.

Unless you are Warren Buffet, your "ownership" of a company is a effectively a meaningless drop in the ocean. And they can dilute your shares even further whenever they want. Us retail investors are just betting on swings in share prices, either short or long term. We bet on a company increasing market share, or releasing a better product, or benefiting from a supply crunch, regulation, etc, just like a gambler would bet on a football team beating the expected spread.

There was a famous quote "The stock market is just a casino without the free cocktails"

My partial ownership of a selection of companies via holding their shares pays me six figures annually, shrug. I’ve only ever lost money in a casino the couple times I’ve been.

I don't see how that changes any of what I said. One could make $100k a year on CD's or govt bonds, assuming you buy enough of them.
