Don't you love unexplained headaches?

Woke up today. I was fine. Came back from washroom and lay down to snooze a bit before getting ready for work. Suddenly, my head feels heavy and I get this mixed feeling of low blood sugar and nausea. Then I get a headache concentrated on the top of my skull. It was extremely disorienting. Felt like I would lose balance and fall over. Four hours later, it has lessened a bit but partly there. Didn't eat anything out of the ordinary. Had to force myself to break fast with a bar of 45% dark chocolate and some chia seeds dessert as the headache didn't make me want to eat or do anything at all. It's not lack of sleep coz I slept more than eight hours. Any idea what the cause could be?

Or maybe you just had a headache. Too much water...
Never had a headache like that before. I remember drinking 500mL of a yogurt drink the previous night (usually eat watermelon before my meal but decided to try something different that evening). That must have caused too much sodium to excrete, forcing the body to hold tight onto whatever sodium it had left, leading to water retention. My kidneys are already injured from a past nephritis.

depending on the type of migraine, there’s medications out there. Lifelong sufferer of migraines here, Triptans work for me.
I meant to say there is not permanent solution for that, we have to take medicine when we have the attack of migraines.

Same here, generic Imitrex works for me but usually need a nap also.

Hit my head last night on the upper bunk telling the granddaughters goodnight. Almost instant migraine.
Lingered into today, took half a Imitrex, and at lunch had to expel my stomach contents then all was well.

I screwed up my neck 20+ years ago. Doc sent me for an MRI, diagnosed a bulging disk at C6-C7, got an epidural for that, never went back...about 6 weeks later, I started getting horrendous headaches that start at the base of my skull. Most severe headaches I've ever had. Opioids don't touch it...the ONLY relief I get is 3 Excedrin usually followed by 3 more about 4-6 hours later. It feels like my skull is detached from my spine when they hit...which is usually 3-5 times per week. (a bottle of 100 Excedrin rarely lasts 30 days)
When I used to get epidurals for my lumbar spine, I had the doc look at my neck with his fluoroscope to see if there was anything obvious...nope. I suppose I SHOULD do something about them...they make life miserable as hell...

That's just a painkiller. It won't solve the root cause of your headaches. You need to see a physiotherapist and get your neck, back and shoulder muscles to relax more so they can stop putting pressure on ur cervical spinal discs. Please don't be careless or negligent about these issues. They can exacerbate over time to the point of requiring surgery that may lead to worse outcomes.

A glass of water is always something to try. It's harmless and sometimes Hydration is the issue.

I went to a chiropractor for many years...but it never helped this problem...in fact, it orften made it worse.

I don't have experience with that and honestly that sounds scary because they think sudden "adjustments" are the solution to everything when there could be other factors at play. I had physiotherapy done for a few weeks and immediately afterwards, I would be able to walk like nothing was wrong with me. It didn't solve the problem long term for me because I must have needed a lot more sessions but my insurance would make me wait up to 10 days between sessions so gave up on that.
