Wasn’t the newly announced AG investigated for taking minors across state lines to have sex with them and that was by a Republican controlled house I remember correctly?

I know the DOJ stopped the investigation as well but uh this guy for AG. Really?

The good news is Trump is taking all the long term incumbents that are relative nutjobs and putting them in his cabinet. They means they are gone from politics in 2-4 years for the most part. The downside is they are uh going to be in the White House for the next 2-4 years.

2 House Reps from New York are joining his administration. Are those special elections? Their House majority is somewhere around 6 seats; but with all this musical chairs, will they pass any legislation without (D) votes?

Inflation, I agree, definitely an issue. It was especially bad because from the late Obama presidency until covid hit, we were in an unprecedented period of growing real wages, low unemployment, lack of any major international conflict, and low interest rates. I dont hold Biden completely blameless. The stimulus packages passed by both him and Trump were needed, but obviously (in hindsight), pumping trillions of dollars into an economy that was shut down to a large extent was going to lead to inflation. The only thing I blame Biden and the Dems for is claiming inflation was a temporary problem when it obviously was not, and waiting too long to raise interest rates. And yes, I know the president does not set monetary policy directly, but he does appoint the chairman of the Federal Reserve, so one would assume he has considerable influence in setting policy. The old trick of the party out of power saying "Are you better off than 4 years ago" was very effective. Unfortunately nobody asked the real question "Would Trump have done any better?" Impossible to say, but most probably not.

I'm not sure it was just the stimulus. When you have wage growth overall, there's going to be inflation with it since there's still the same amount of goods that people are buying.

Hopefully though, productivity will increase along with the wage growth, so that minimize price increases because there are more goods to be sold.

Real wages peaked in Q3 of 2020. By Q1 of 2022 they were back to pre-pandemic levels, and rose only slightly after that, but stayed far below the peak 2020 levels under Trump.

Edit: Of course, you could argue, legitimately, that that peak under Trump was an artifact, and that the overall trend is slowly upward. I would agree, but the Reps have effectively promoted the message that the peak was a result of Trump's policies, and that we can get back to that. Also note that interest rated were historically low, so homes and other big ticket items were more affordable. Rising rates, as Biden had to do to curb inflation, really punish lower income people. They dont have enough money, so they use a credit card, but the interest rates go up, so the have bigger payments, so use the card more. and so on. It is a deadly cycle going further and further into debt at a high interest rate. Although I have essentially eliminated debt recently, I know what that cycle is like, because I HAVE been there in the past.
