Yeah, it seems like stock has been decent on these. My Microcenter is finally sold out, but they had them yesterday. I wonder if the 5090 launch will be this smooth...

5090 will be worse, gamers and AI folks will be eying it. 32GB of vram GDDR7 is appealing for ultra high end

Have done alittle memory performance comparison between 8400/2200 and 8400/2100 ("synced") on the 9800X3D
As expected and as we all hopefully know, you trade bandwidth for latency when you go outside the golden rule 🧐

*edit* PS all runs were done with agesa 1.2.0.2A (aida suddenly reads higher latency on newest agesa vs 1.2.0.2)

8400/2200

Golden rule 8400/2100

Have also completed my "maxed daily settings" for my 1:1 profile and 2:1 profile (both juiced with 100.25 baseclock)
And we see the same there, trade bandwidth for latency

2:1 CL32 8200/2200

1:1 CL26 6600/2200 ("synced")

But in all fairness, i think all these profiles came out surprisingly close to each others in performance..
Going by the Clem cache/memory benchmark ranking we get the following: 🥇

Latency:
  1. CL26 6600/2200 @ 70.54ns
  2. CL34 8400/2100 @ 71.01ns
  3. CL32 8200/2200 @ 72.46ns
  4. CL34 8400/2200 @ 74.46ns

Bandwidth
  1. CL34 8400/2200 @ 94.64 GB/s
  2. CL32 8200/2200 @ 92.58 GB/s
  3. CL34 8400/2100 @ 91.15 GB/s
  4. CL26 6600/2200 @ 89.88 GB/s

End results: --> Depending on the game/program/benchmark will decide what memory settings performs the best

If only we could unlock 8800/2200 for daily on this platform, then we would reach a new performance-level with the best of both worlds, latency and bandwidth 💪

FF Dawntrail score at each of those settings would be awesome

If I were to build a system built around a 9950X, using default BIOS settings and a Peerless Assassin, what all-core frequency, temps, and power draw, could I expect to see when running CB R24 MT?

Nice power graph there and in CB R24 MT, it does 2130.

All core frequency would depend on your particular sample's quality but I think 5.5 GHz should be doable though maybe not at 200W. Temps shouldn't exceed 85C at default settings.

Thanks Igor. Reviews are a great starting place and that is why I'm interested in the 9950X but there is nothing like actual data from users here that can tell me exactly how they are setup and what to expect!

I am on a 7950x, and I think the 9950x is the same way. They go to 95c, then as fast as it will go. I am doing 4.65 @16 real cores (no smt) and full avx-512. and ifs 95c as expected. 9950x acts the same way, but is a little faster.

So if you run CB R23 MT at your current settings what would HWinfo/CB report as your frequency, power, temp, (during the run) and score?

Well, I am in a primegrid contest right now for a week. So somebody else will have to do this.
Sorry

At this point I would probably wait to see how the 9950X3D will perform and cost and how it will influence the cost of the regular 9950X before building a new rig.

Yeah I am looking forward to the reviews of the other 3D chips, and will probably be tempted to do a build with one of them.

AMD takes Zen to insane levels by testing our patience with EVERY V-cache generation. First it was 5800X3D and people kept waiting for the demo 5900X3D with dual CCD V-cache. Then 2nd gen AMD released the higher core count parts first and people interested in gaming and lower prices had to wait. Now it's the turn of the productivity people to try to calm their impulse neurons from firing incessantly during waking hours.

A bad review because it runs exactly as expected when under ideal conditions? And because he's using liquid cooling its magic. High end solutions are rated at a realistic 250W with the largest radiators. That clown probably had a 120mm radiator.

Real geeks use phase change.

I wound up grabbing the 9800x3d from Newegg and trading in my 13700k so saved 200 bucks on my 9800x3d once they test it. (did the same thing with my 9900x) Grabbed another x870e Strix E as well. Everything should be here tomorrow. Going to do some gaming this weekend since my Wooting 80he should be here today. I cancelled my microcenter reserve.

For those who might wonder neither of my 13700k showed degradation and i stress tested them and got no errors. Newegg tests them as well before they refund the 200. Figured ide run Amd rigs until Intel gets their act together.
