Nope, here is a chart of weekly real earnings for wage and salary workers.....https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LES1252881900Q
Real wages peaked in Q3 of 2020. By Q1 of 2022 they were back to pre-pandemic levels, and rose only slightly after that, but stayed far below the peak 2020 levels under Trump.

Edit: Of course, you could argue, legitimately, that that peak under Trump was an artifact, and that the overall trend is slowly upward. I would agree, but the Reps have effectively promoted the message that the peak was a result of Trump's policies, and that we can get back to that. Also note that interest rated were historically low, so homes and other big ticket items were more affordable. Rising rates, as Biden had to do to curb inflation, really punish lower income people. They dont have enough money, so they use a credit card, but the interest rates go up, so the have bigger payments, so use the card more. and so on. It is a deadly cycle going further and further into debt at a high interest rate. Although I have essentially eliminated debt recently, I know what that cycle is like, because I HAVE been there in the past.

Well, where we are now is higher than any point in Trump's presidency before 2020, which is a pretty solid recovery. Just add it to the ways the dems completely bungled the messaging. There had to be a way to focus on women's rights, without handwaving away people's concerns about the economy. Most of us know prices of food and other general goods aren't going back down significantly (barring deflation), but other than a few tidbits like the downpayment credit, Harris didn't really hammer on what she'd do to continue improving things.

There was a survey right before the 2024 election that asked how people thought he did when he was president, and he got a 48% approval. Sure that seems low, but it's actually a full fourteen point improvement on where he was when he left office.

People literally forgot how much they didn't like him. Which certainly tracks with what we know about American attention spans.

We've forgotten everything:

The guy who actually taxed the rich the most was the only guy elected to POTUS 4 times!

Matt FUCKING Gaetz!!! Absolutely gobsmacked. I hope the more “moderate” GQP senators ha ha psyche! will actually grow a fucking spine and shut that dumpster fire of a selection down. The guy repulsed Kevin McCarthy for shits sake. Guys lucky he didn’t get put in prison for 10 years. Oh the example this is setting. Disgusting.

Oh and yea Tulsi Gabbard as Director of DNI is just a gift to her Russian allies. I can almost guarantee the five eyes countries sans the US will not be forthcoming with their intelligence with both Mr. Orange and Gabbard at the head of the intelligence community.

Might want to mention the world war.
Yea. But the US wasn’t at war when he was elected the third time. Though I’m sure he would’ve liked to have helped Britain and France much earlier; since he was hamstrung by the America first party/Nazi sympathizers until December 7, 1941.

Some opinions at NYTimes. Just read the 1st which gives hope. Alter says the margin in the Senate is not enough for GOP to nation-wide ban abortion, gut the Civil Service, get us out of NATO, confirm RFKJr for a cabinet position or elevate Aileen Cannon to the SCOTUS. And he credits the Democratic get out the vote people for that.

The link below is paywall busting for 14 days, so until Nov. 22, 2024

Don’t have to. Just put a toad as FDA Director and revoke approval of Mifepristone. Also enforce Comstock Act and all abortion related material no longer ships via mail.

What’s sad is my grandparents and their peers were solidly democratic and it was an enjoyable place 50-60 years ago. A tragedy what it has become.

One of the reasons Kamala lost. Ignorance. 17% think Biden ended Roe. That is shocking to me

Not shocking at all IMO. Trump has been the perfect front man, just constant bullshit combined with what is a well oiled propaganda machine via news outlets like Fox, newsmax, and countless online dittoheads which can reach into the online space. Add In things like twitter and truth social as even more effective disinformation spreading and you end up with a populace who literally can’t think for themselves and don’t even know what is real. We haven’t even hit the real deep fake stuff yet.

Actually this is much worse than the start of his first term.

Yeah but that was expected too. He didn't know anybody at the time and ended up with the mostly expected cast of usual Republican ghouls until late in his presidency. Hitting the ground running this time with the worst garbage he can find.

Yesh this is worse, these people are clearly being picked to destroy the departments they are supposed to be leading.

Unlike Betsy DeVos, William Barr, and Michael Flynn for example? The undermining of the Mueller investigation as another?

AFAIK very little has changed in their strategy so far, they seem to be trying to pick up where they left off.

Don't get me wrong, I'm concerned for where this will lead, but this isn't unprecedented for the Trump admin at all.
