I'll cook the day before, and play the get together stuff for the next day by ear.

I will be eschewing the photogenic crispy skin turkey this year and doing one low and slow in the oven until it is fall apart tender. Brussel sprouts with bacon. Mashed gold potatoes, turkey giblet gravy, broccoli casserole. Baked sweet potatoes. Cranberry orange sauce. Cornbread stuffing. Pumpkin pie and maybe cheesecake minis. Green beans. All fresh, nothing fancy, as my family has no appreciation and prefer comfort foods.

Even you keto folks have to have a cheat day?

I’m going over the hills and through the woods to DaPunisher’s house for dinner.

What kind of wine should I bring?

I’ll be roasting a chicken and country ham in the solar oven, banging Highland’s mom, baking Eccles cakes, going for a hike in the desert, maybe watch a movie, and listen to music.

BoomerD you cannot get much farther away and stay in the lower 48? My son likes Ozzy shiraz. I am a cheap merlot and Chianti enjoyer.

Neat. What are cooking times like with one of those?

I've got 2 Thanksgivings. One on my side where us siblings and parents haven't been together in a few years. I usually don't have to cook when it's my side, my parents usually do all that. On the wife's side, I'll be cooking the turkey on the weber kettle and a ham in the roaster the following Saturday. Pretty much all I'm responsible for.

I will have small Thanksgiving here with family, just 5 or 6 people. Turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes are planned, not sure what else.

Ah yes, cranberry sauce is a must, and some sort of pie.

Being on the space coast, we are partial to Key Lime Pie. My in-laws will make one from their trees for certain, so I don't need to bother.

Cranberry Orange sauce goes great on a leftovers turkey sandwich.
Flying that morning to the Caribbean for a 9-night getaway.
Sarah will be long gone by then, and you should have ideal weather for your getaway. A jerked seasoned Turkey sounds good right now...

I believe we're going to my brother's house. Potentially my last Thanksgiving being in the Boston area (entirely dependent on where my spouse matches for residency).

Gone are the days of trying to satisfy both sides of the family. Especially with the in-laws really showing their ass these last few months.
Right on. Don't stress yourself out over that stuff. I used to allow that to happen and it made the holidays more drudgery than enjoyment.

Any opinions on the Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuit mix? My wife says we made them once and really liked them. But I don't remember it. She bought a box and I thought I might try them for turkey day if none of you warm me off.

We are going to have about 15 people over at our place. My wife likes to cook the turkey. I move tables around and finish clean and watch football. I like to be home for the holidays so it works out.

Funny thing is, we live in an area where they shut off the power when when the Santa Ana winds blow (High dry winds in SoCal). I have always said they seem to blow at Thanksgiving and two years in a row our power was shut off but we still had it here. We got a whole house generator last year and of course our power was fine during Thanksgiving.

I think we got the biscuits a couple years in a row and people liked them. I used to make them. I have since moved on to making a cheesecake so dropped making the biscuits.

I smoke the turkey on the BGE. Wife's mom brings the Finchville Farms ham. The oldest child will bring a side dish, the middle daughter goes nuts and brings like six sides! Lol

There’s usually 8 to 12 people around the table.
