Got my Covid and Flu shot on Oct. 3rd, 22 days ago.
I've had mild symptoms starting two days ago. I tested negative for Covid yesterday, and positive for Covid today. My other half had symptoms starting the day before me. She tested negative so far today though. Maybe it's very mild? I don't feel too bad. Have a call into the Doc for Paxlovid.

Our elderly neighbor fell down the steps Sunday cracking a couple ribs, and his wife was three days post hip replacement. My wife volunteered to stay the night with them, until their daughters could drive up from Indiana the next day, since neither were very mobile. She said he was coughing all night, thought is was the ribs...

This is the second time she brought this home to me. I'm guessing none of us are protected well at all.
That is a perfectly functioning vaccine. That is exactly how they are supposed to work.

Vaccines generally don't prevent infection (you can always breathe in this virus and the virus will always try to replicate, preventing breathing is not a vaccine that anyone wants to take). Vaccines let your immune system kick in quickly before the disease gets severe. If the disease replicates slowly, then vaccines let your immune system kick in before you notice the symptoms, but Covid is not a slow replicator.

Couldn't sleep on my left side Friday night, felt like my arm had been kicked by a horse, less sore the next day, but otherwise felt fine and did my normal hiking and such. This is the first time I've gotten one of the Pfizer shots, all the prior ones had been Moderna, pharmacist said they'd been one of the fastest to ship a bunch out.

True, for this vaccine. But we have eradicated many diseases completely with vaccines, like polio, etc. Well, until the anti vaxers spread BS, now some are coming back.

The vaccine do work to reduce severity. This particular case of Covid- 19 was milder than I could have ever imagined. Less than a cold. Very runny nose for two days, never got a temperature at all, been fine since Saturday, when my wife also tested positive. She felt fine, but tested again because she was supposed to take her 85 year old mother shopping.

It's weird how things have changed. I have a Dr.s appointment tomorrow for the fourth in a weekly series of knee injections. I called them to see if I should still come in. They said as long as I'm not coughing, or running a temperature, just wear a mask, or they will give me one when I come in, no problem.

My CVS said the same. She wasn't a pharmacist though.

Husband and I got flu and Moderna shots last week. Arm is still sore. That's a first but it is improving. Hopefully it will make our Thanksgiving and Christmas trips a bit safer. As far as I know we still have not had covid and I'd like to keep it that way.

Got my old fart flu and Moderna COVID a week ago. Pharmacies are just not restocking after having to dump all their vaccines when the whole area lost power from Helene, and Moderna was what they had. That is #7 for me.

Got both in same arm as I sleep on the other one. Basically forgot about it until I rubbed my arm the next day, and it was just a little tender.

Got the flu & covid stab a couple weeks ago. (Pfizer if it still matters)

Near zero side effects this time around beyond some slight on-site irritation.

Had my fifth BioNtech/Pfizer shot against SARS-CoV2, like 6 weeks ago.
Never had any side effect issues.
I do notice that the vaccins help.
I do wish these were available sooner, with hindsight.

I had both the flu and covid vaccines 2 weeks ago. Covid arm was sore the next couple days but not the flu arm.

My friend who put off getting his shots came down with covid last week. He's still sick but improving,

Gotta say I'm quite impressed with how well the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID shots are working. I went to my uncle's on Christmas eve and it turns out my cousin's son's whole family basically had COVID but wasn't symptomatic yet and he ended up bringing it to the Christmas party and a ton of people got infected. But neither my parents, my wife, nor I picked it up despite spending a good amount of time with him, his wife, and kids. My parents were both vaccinated with the newest Pfizer-BioNTech in October and my wife and I got the shot in early November. So just more motivation to ensure we get the new shot every fall.

It's a shame that only 21% (IIRC), has had the newest booster .
I've heard all the dumbassed excuses from the people I know that don't get the boosters .

Good for you Steve.

Good to hear. Got my 9th covid shot about a month ago, due to visit big family affair in 2+ weeks. I will definitely N95 mask-up on planes and some with family too, likely. I hear that covid started surging in December.
