I do not watch commercials for cars or trucks or vans or SUVs. My 37k miles sedan is 27YO.
Bully for you.

It's also not just commercials. It's product placement everywhere, dealers steering people to higher margin (and bigger) vehicles, and a auto lobby who have succeeded in getting CAFE regulations that go easier on "light trucks" (basically, all crossovers, SUVs, and pickups).

It is only going to get worse under Trump "Drill baby drill". Of course, since he and Elon are joined at the hip now, perhaps he will still support electric cars. I sympathize with the hurt people feel about a lot of prices, (food, housing, education, medical care, insurance, utilities, etc) but those complaining about gas prices are just nuts or MAGA morons. Gas in most places is around $3 per gallon. That is very reasonable historically and in comparison to European countries. Someone I know, who is a very strong Trumper, was complaining that he is living paycheck to paycheck under Kamala. Of course, he just bought a 50K plus SUV which probably which gets about 20mpg at best, and costs about 1K per month with the insurance and vehicle payment. Not to mention that he already had (and kept) a 5 yo quite nice Nissan Rogue, and most ironic of all, he has a company vehicle and his wife works from home.

I really wanted to say to him "Hmm.. Bidenomics seems to be treating you pretty well, actually", but we have an unspoken agreement not to talk politics.

25th Amendment exists for a reason. Congress' powers to impeach exist for a reason.
Neither of those has a reasonable chance to happen. If a president is unable to perform his duties and willingly gives up power, the 25th automatically takes effect. However, if the President contests it, he can only be removed by a vote of a 2/3 majority of both houses of Congress. Same for impeachment. Even if the impeachment moves forward, it takes a 2/3 vote in the Senate to convict. Even if the Dems make a strong showing in the midterms, it is almost inconceivable they would get a 2/3 majority in either house.

Oil companies have plenty of oil to drill for and they are deciding not to in many cases because they'd lose money doing it. If it can't be profitably extracted and sold then it's staying in the ground. The only way 2020 gas prices are coming back, which a lot of people seem to think is possible, is if Trump drives the country's economy into a severe depression.

A yes, a real-life dril who spends too much on candles per month and needs someone good with the economy.

This is Red. If you read his posts in other threads, you'll learn that he spends like a drunken sailor on shit he doesn't need and then bitches that inflation makes it impossible to simply live. He blames Trudeau for his own spending choices.

I saw the movie “The Antisocial Network” and it detailed how Steve Bannon leveraged young men into MAGA. Lots on 4chan and Anonymous. I’ll have too see when it was made and the continuation into this election will be interesting.

So this is a parody video, I laughed at a bunch of parts. But as I thought about it, this could turn out to be not far from reality if Trump gets his way. And whoever the guy that made it is, sure does a convincing job of portraying a MAGA.

Personally, I think Trump should spend more time at Mars-a-Lago. Take Elonia with him.

You don't know what you are talking about. Who is Red? Do you mean Red Squirrel?? In any case you are totally off base. The person I am talking about has never posted in AT forums.

Starting? The press has been working on the Trump curve for the better part of a decade.
There was a funny editorial in the NYT yesterday by Roxane Gay about how we need to stop coddling Trump voters who live in a land of delusion (which I definitely agree with!). But what it failed to point out is the media's role in allowing this all to happen over the last decade+. The media, in its blind adherence to tone-neutral writing has thrown their brains right in the trash, no longer capable of calling a spade a spade. From calling RFK Jr a "skeptic", "both sidesing stuff", sane washing Trump (or just not reporting on his insanity)...

Well, that didn't take long. MSM pretty much starting to capitulate already. Was a nice country while it lasted.

The most important word in the english language is WHY..

Do you know WHY?

It's part of a plan.. Just look at his cabinet picks.. severely unqualified.

So the government is able to do NOTHING.. and it's always been the way of conservaterrorists who believe in the power of the white man being unchecked.

So when they lash out and inflict pain upon others.. the government will DO NOTHING, will NOT LET OTHERS DO ANYTHING, make sure NOTHING GETS DONE so those at the top have a free hand to do what they like.

Laws are only as useful as they help the top peeps and clearly have outlived their usefulness.

Back to the 1890s wild west we go!

I didn't mean your person was Red Squirrel. I meant that Red Squirrel acts and talks the same way.

Network effect seems to have kicked in for Bluesky. I can basically see it sucking users and engagement from Twitter in real time. Now that it's reached critical mass it will accelerate.

Anecdotally it's become the first social app I open now instead of Twitter and a lot of people I know are basically the same now. I'd be willing to pay for a premium tier also which is defiantly not true for the Musk ruined Twitter.
I logged in and saw that apparently they're up to 19 million people today? I made one post last week when I created my account, and I already have a follower and got a response (from a different person), which surprised me compared to my experience on Twitter.
Just joined Blue. Was never on Twitter, but need a Twitter like place to talk shit about Twitter. And Elon.
I never used my Twitter much, and deleted it when he was in talks to buy the site. I did post a series of micro-reviews on albums I bought at thrift stores.

User counter:

BTW remember what I would say.. I use twitter for following a football club in the EPL??

Somehow I have 2.5x'ed my followers without even trying just by being an early switcher and being myself (positive) and I'm not even looking for interaction..

Seems the people over at bluesky really want positive vibes instead of the shitshow twitter became after Elon took over..
