Holding off longer also lets them build up more inventory so that they can have good availability at launch. A lot of buyers would be extremely grateful if they could easily get a card at launch without having to scramble to fill out and order form at 2 AM local time or pay a $$$ scalper premium for their card.

They have no reason to rush and a lot to gain taking their time. Really the only ones to lose from that are the people who will drop as much money as necessary to have the card on day one as they don't get to enjoy it quite as early, but it's not as though they won't buy the card if it comes out two months later than it otherwise could have launched.

5090 is likely 4Np. Less efficient(process normalized) than RDNA4, but incredible 70% more performance at 4K/8k than 4090.

Nvidia has historically been good (from pascal) with efficiency barring RTX 30 series.

It’s what made me pick 4070 super over RDNA 3 because of the better efficiency and I picked RDNA 2 instead of 30 series because it was on Samsung node which was not as efficient as TSMC N7.

With this generation there is no node improvement, it will interesting to see who has the better efficiency next year.

The RTX 40 series vs its comparable RDNA 3 GPU has lower power consumption when connected to multiple monitors, video playback, gaming etc

Good news for Nvidia shareholders.

SoftBank is slated to receive the world’s first NVIDIA DGX™ B200 systems, which will serve as the building blocks for its new NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD™ supercomputer.

SoftBank plans to use its Blackwell-powered DGX SuperPOD for its own generative AI development and AI-related business, as well as that of universities, research institutions and businesses throughout Japan.

Since there will be 3Gb chips, do you think there will be more variety in cards?

They could in theory make cards with same specs, but in 8/12 or 16/24 Gb variations.

I think the 70 class cards will have 12GB or 18GB, with 18GB coming later. The 80 class cards will likely have 16GB or 24GB.

The 60 class cards will remain at 8GB or 16GB.

5060 16gb would be the best choice for 80% of the consumer market...

a laptop 4060 8gb can already play everything at 1440p high/ultra 60fps

they have to sell more expensive cards so mandatory memory limit

I am thinking nv will rebadge

5060 ti = 4070 gddr6
5060 = 4060 ti 8gb

Probably 5060 8GB, 5070 12GB and 5080 16GB at launch with 5060 Super 12GB, 5070 Super 18GB and 5080 Super 24GB in early 2026.
Just remembered its only GDDR7 not GDDR6 they start making in 3Gbit variants right?

I'm not sure for gamers if 32GB will be significant enough of a feature in the next handful of years to justify a big price increase. Feels pretty similar to Pascal (hopefully), where we get a bump to 16GB across the board on the x70-x80 class enthusiast parts, and the halo gets 50% more with 24GB. By the time 24GB vram starts being a limiting factor, chances are a 5090 will be struggling as much as a 1080 Ti/Titan Xp is in games that require more than 12GB today.

I'd definitely take 32GB over 24GB, but I wouldn't want to pay $300 extra for it at this point at least as just a gamer.

I think the 3090, 4090 and 5090 with the sheer memory bandwidth and VRAM capacity should have legs to last a long time. I don't think the price tag can be defended by that alone, but I guess for those who can't help themselves and always upgrade, its a comfort since it can be handed down to others or put in a secondary PC if you don't keep it for 2-3 generations yourself. The one annoying thing is the sheer physical size of the cards compared to cheaper models. I have a test PC for various projects and troubleshooting and I had to go out of my way to get a case that could fit the largest cards, as well as a beefy PSU.
