It's been a busy week. I hauled in rock Monday, load of mudsill Tuesday, picked up a load of all the floor beams and joists and rim boards Wednesday. Loving this flat deck trailer.
My brother and niece's son showed up late Wednesday so yesterday was the first day with a full crew.
All the hangers were up and we made a router template to cut duct round holes.
Today we punched the holes in the bedroom joists. Those are an upgrade on the basic joist in the permit. I modeled all the spans in BC Calc software and upgraded those one class stronger.
The lads cut all the joists to length and staged them. I'll get to handle them again to cut rectangular holes for bigger duct, the dryer and bathroom vent piping, etc.
There will be no flex ducting anywhere in the house.
This was the other location I was going to upgrade joists, I was going up to the BC6500 but they were unobtanium. The vendor offered these beefy 60 series for a buck a foot more. Sign me up!
These are long spans and there is a partition wall that will transmit some loading from the floor above, and it is the longest straight walk coming in the entrance.
All told, the enhancements cost $335 over joists that met code OK but would have been a bit "boomy".
