To echo what @QueBert said, my experience with Popeyes is every once in while you just get a spectacular 10/10 sandwich, but then you get a bunch of 4/10, 5/10, and such in between. Whereas Chick Fil A I can get a consistent 7/10 to 8/10 every trip. Was impressed with KFC's chicken sandwich the other day and only tried it because I had downloaded their app for the 8 piece bucket for $10 on Tuesdays only to be offered a free sandwich for something like national chicken sandwich day or something. Pretty giant piece of chicken perfectly fried in the sandwich.Had a Popeyes chicken sandwich recently. Been probably a year, laying low with fast food for some time. It was spectacular. Crunchy, tender, juicy, airy, delicious. Impressed with their chicken sammy.
Best shit at Taco Bell is the build your own cravings box with a crunchwrap supreme, beef 5 layer burrito, fiesta potatoes (those are as addictive as crack), and then a Baja Blast for $6.80. Big enough meal to where I usually will eat no lunch or just something really small if I know I'm going to be in the mood to grab dinner there.Actually ended up having Taco Bell this weekend, modified some cheaper menu items to be what I was after. Tried "Omar Apollo's Disha Hot" sauce. I guess he's a musician or something? Anyway, I thought the sauce was fairly good, and would pick up a bottle if that was a thing you could do.

LOL I literally do that for every trip to McDonalds. B1G1 with survey receipt on $3.20 double cheeseburgers plus small soda for $1 and then use the free medium fries with purchase deal from the app. Comes out to like $4.54. Or if I'm really hungry use B1G1 for $4.69 on quarter pounders with cheese plus $1 soda plus free fries from the app deal. Big Mac is kind of a waste IMO paying for that much bread and a gross sauce I used to always leave off anyways when I ordered it.Probably didn't use the app to order? Meal combos are always a ripoff for me. They all basically boil down to 'buy this shit, get a free drink', and I don't like soda. I also don't want a wasteful bottle of water that isn't measurably better than what I have in my canteen. I'll occasionally get coffee, but that's a crapshoot. Even McDonalds that has decent coffee during breakfast hours can serve up almost anything at other times. Might be good, might be undrinkable. CFA menu is mostly disappointing, but the regular spicy chicken sandwich and waffle fries are always awesome when I get them. Plus every other order on average you get a survey receipt for a free chicken sandwich. The nuggets are good too but wildly overpriced for how tiny they are. Their CFA sauce is also amazing IMO. But any time I order one of their new menu items I just wish I had gotten the spicy chicken sandwich and poured the CFA sauce on it.Politics aside, I find CFA waaay overhyped, and waaay underperforming, all at a premium price. Every once in a blue moon I'll get something and feel vaguely ripped off. Combined with their douchiness, it makes them easy to avoid.

Ugh that Chicago private equity firm ruined the patty melt at Whataburger. Rest of the menu tastes the same IMO, but they got rid of the buttery crisp thick Texas toast and replaced it with sad skinny floppy soggy toast, completely ruined the burger. I've tried Subway, Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's, Firehouse, Port of Subs, Capriotti's, etc. and they're all garbage. Old school Togo's used to be excellent but I'm under the impression that they don't exist anymore, or the ones that do, suck. It's a shame, you'd think that fast sandwiches would be an easy concept yet everyone seems to fuck it up.
