This is most definitely _not_ a 'left leaning forum'.
For some reason my opinion differs and seems to me correct. I will let others make up their own minds.
The only temptation I have about leaving it at that is that I have a special interest in your posts. Call it vanity if you like, but there’s a uniqueness to your posts I fancy is there and admirably rare, that is, of course perhaps just another of my goofy opinions, something I feel, but not so easy to categorize or cogently express in words so I’m just going to wing it:
The words that come to mind are that you are a kind of skeptic, someone who does not easily allied with whatever direction opinions in a thread may be proceeding, like something of the nature of a gadfly. This is a something I admire.
Furthermore, I think your perspectives smack of a kind of European Intellectualism and erudition that in many ways are the hallmarks of Western enlightenment filtered and tempered by additional historical events that have for many dampened cultural arrogance.
I see you as a thinker and a person of depth and I like reading what you have to say.
So, what I was wondering about, since from my perspective I would describe this forum left leaning, does your objection spring from something about how you define ‘left’?
I am forced for the sake of brevity, which I am regularly accused of abusing, to normalize words to the extent I can, and use them as seems to me the way others do, but at another level more satisfying to me, the terms left and right disappear as artifacts of dualistic thinking, opposite sides of a deeper unity.
Any thinker doing a deep dive into political definitions will develop perspectives that refine definitions. For example, to me the left is in one direction way to the right of where the left should be, but because of the paradoxical nature of truth, also therefore, way to the left of where it should be.
Light or darkness depend on an eye to see them and what we see of them depends on the time of day. Can consciousness be fully aware and tell the time of day? One can only ever be in the present. Thought is time so when we think we are not really here.
