The body of it is about 2.25" long, and about 1" wide. I wonder if I could just use an aluminum can somehow.....What size is it? You might be able to find a heatsink designed for NVME drives that would fit
So generally the solid play in these kind of situations is to look at the existing case and it's thermal issues, decide you need to couple the chips to a metal case with some integrated cooling, and then buy a sintered metal 3D printer. Basically the exact same process as coming back from Home Depot with a new compound mitre saw if the wife asks you to trim up a baseboard.Looking at someone else's mod. I'm guessing that cooling the case will have little effect. I can't tell, but it doesn't seem like the chips inside are thermally coupled to the case:
