I worked for the US Civil Service, and carried my FEP private group insurance into retirement, since I was too young for Medicare when I retired. I haven't switched to Medicare except for part A, which is free. My wife has had a lot of medical issues this past year, probably would have been hundreds of thousands without insurance. Between the private insurance and Medicare part A to pick up hospital deductible expenses, i have only had to pay a few thousand (less than 5K for sure) for all this. Considering what is happening now, I am glad I kept the private insurance, although it has become painfully expensive (900.00 per month next year, the premium went up over 100/month). If Harris had won, I was planning to switch totally to Medicare, but wont now. In fact, I am even concerned that if Medicare gets eliminated or severely gutted, private insurance will increase even more steeply in price and cut benefits.
Does your current private plan qualify you to sign up for Part B w/o the deferred enrollment penalty?

So you’ve actually paid $10,800 + <5k? That sounds horrible.

Yep, for my wife and myself. I did find out I can switch to a "self +1" plan instead of a family plan that would save about a hundred dollars per month.

Considering many people on Medicaid cannot work, at all, he can fuck right off.

Maybe he should stop being a talking head on TV and get a 'real job' where he can contribute to society, yeah?
The incoming Trump admin wants to follow through on what they were going to do if elected in 2020 and that’s redefine disability and what qualifies. Their plan is to remove a lot of people of the disability rolls.

Furthermore, I’m pretty sure the transition team was hoping to get 10% of the on social security retirement back into the workforce.

They are coming for SS, Medicare, Medicaid and Disability.

Medicaid will get gutted by block grants and allow states to do what ever they want. The list of disabilities will shrink. SS will be converted to whatever their most recent hare brained idea is, but it will only effect retires from Gen Exers. But fuck gen exers they mostly voted for Trump.
