A few months ago I *tweaked my 36" bar for my saw. Disgusted, I just took it off, put it in the scabbard, installed a shorter bar, finished the work I had to do, and hadn't looked at it since. I have some milling to do coming up, so I took it out to look at it, and it was better than I remembered. I thought I was gonna have to buy a new tip at the minimum, and spend a fair amount of time trying to get the tip lugs straight. It didn't look that bad. A couple whacks with a hammer, and one with a chisel to open the rail near the tip, and I /think/ it'll be ok. The real test is when it's on a saw spinning at ~50'/second.
*"tweaked" is understating what it looked like with the log bending it. Going from the old memory, I think it was about a 90° bend, but it sprang back into shape, not looking too awful from it's ordeal.
