I switched between my employer medical plan to Medicare / Tricare for Life with no issues. One Knee was covered by my Employer and the other by Medicare. I never paid a dime for either.

Getting lucky if this was pre March 2010 is not exactly something everybody can rely on.

Have any links to this "Plan"? I'd love to read it.

https://abc3340.com/news/beyond-the...age-private-insurance-budget-spending-deficit

Oz is a noted supporter of Medicare Advantage, where federal benefits are provided through private insurers, and has pushed for expansion of it. During his unsuccessful Senate campaign, one of his policies was a “Medicare Advantage for All” plan to expand the program. Around 33 million Americans are covered by Medicare Advantage plans, around the same level that are covered by traditional Medicare.

The problem with Medicare Advantage plans is that they are rip offs with higher denials and delays than Medicare:

https://www.statnews.com/2024/02/28...verpayment-patient-dissatisfaction-investors/

hese are just the latest in a series of negative headwinds for Medicare Advantage, as people across the political spectrum have begun to see the many flaws in the program. Legislators from both parties have introduced bills to crack down on egregious overpayments to MA plans, which researchers from Physicians for a National Health Program (where one of us, Philip, is president) have estimated are as high as $140 billion per year. Many seniors say they feel trapped in the program, tricked into joining with promises of quality care and low costs, only to find their treatments denied and bills piling up when they become ill. A recent report from the Commonwealth Fund found that more Medicare Advantage patients (22%) than traditional Medicare patients (13%) reported delays due to insurance approvals. With all these issues, hospitals are increasingly refusing to accept MA at all, citing low reimbursement rates and excessive prior authorization as heavily burdensome to their work.

The truth is that MA has been a broken system since the beginning, especially for patients. The business worked only as long as insurers were able to extract inappropriately large payments from the Medicare fund through methods like upcoding, where plans list false or exaggerated diagnoses on patient charts to get more money while providing no additional care. In fact, the MA model relies on providing as little care as possible in general, with insurers putting care approval behind a wall of delays and denials to save money and leaving patients suffering without necessary treatment. Now that the government is trying to rein in these abuses and seniors are using more health care than before, this model is in serious jeopardy.

Of course he doesn't actually know things about what the ACA has done for people, or what a pre-existing condition is. Probably doesn't know about lifetime limits either.
That's the thing - the ACA has been around so long now that it's considered the baseline. Now, despite Democrats doing a huge thing to improve health care people will go back to saying the Democrats never do anything.

Thanks for the links.

Well from your article linked:

“President-elect Trump has said Medicare and Social Security cuts are off the table, and defense cuts likely are as well."

I don't have a Medicare Advantage Plan. Tricare for Life takes care of all cost shares and deductibles from Medicare.

So then either he isn't cutting taxes like he claims or we're going to see huge inflation on top of the inflation his tariff plans already have baked in.

I never said that.
I am also not against the ACA...

I'm only speaking from MY Experiences....
We got into this because you said the Democrats never do anything. Now we're discussing something that they managed to get done. Any plans to give them credit for getting something done?

They want to push people off regular Medicare onto the Advantage plans.

Trump also says we're going to have "beautiful" healthcare and tried to repeal the ACA without any replacement.

I was referring to how they keep their base hanging on and stringing along.
I will say that the ACA (after the growing pains) has helped many people from what I have read about it. I do not think it should or will go away under a Trump Admin. Of course as always you are welcome to your opinion.

They got in done while the GOP continued to tear it down as much as possible. And some of that tearing down increased costs by not funding it the way the dem’s had wanted to

Who are "They"?

Trump stated: “President-elect Trump has said Medicare and Social Security cuts are off the table, and defense cuts likely are as well."

LMAO at believing Trump's promises.

Polite discourse is great but all of geek's answers amount to: FYGM.

Dumb Q, but why did John McCain deliver the famous thumbs-down? Just to give the finger to Herr Trump?

Yeah, and you don't acknowledge the massive role the GOP plays in keeping them from getting things done, and you seemingly approve of one of the major things they have gotten done despite Mitch McConnell's stated goal of preventing them from getting legislation passed (and then the GOP had over 100 resolutions to repeal the ACA between it passing and 2017).

He was dying, deeply pissed at the process, and hated Trump. I think it's arguable that he also decided it was just not the right thing to do. Also going out a legend probably had some appeal.

I haven't seen where anyone has stated they are going to toss people off of Medicare and into an Advantage Plan.
While Trump is a huge liar and nothing he says should be taken seriously the only way to enact the plans he claims to want is through massive cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
