Polite discourse is great but all of geek's answers amount to: FYGM.

Dumb Q, but why did John McCain deliver the famous thumbs-down? Just to give the finger to Herr Trump?

I'm not saying FYGM at all. I'm just relating the conversation to MY Experiences. Just as you base yours on Your experiences.

That is exactly why John McCain gave the thumbs down in a dramatic fashion.

That's exactly what you're saying. Medicare works great for you, so who cares about the ACA for non-retirees?

It's funny how socialized medicine is bad, except when you are a direct beneficiary.

Please quote where I stated that Medicare works great for me, so who cares about the ACA for non-retirees.

This entire conversation began when the geek claimed Dems only deliver broken promises, and he was directly refuted (#181).

So he pivoted off to Medicare is great for me, but I know diddly about the ACA.

That isn't true.

Post # 186 Giant Cuts to Medicare and the ACA was brought up by another poster.

To which I responded that I haven't seen any cuts to my Medicare.

They responded about Medicaid Block Grants which doesn't apply to Medicare.

After that I only responded to questions posted towards me.

But you want to Flex and be an internet bad ass... LOL Have fun.

About AC in the southern US

I live on the Gulf Coast. My 18yr old AC units are going out. Replacing the current dual unit system and accessible flexible ducts with new more efficient variable speed units and better insulated (and routed) ducts is costing me $50K and a full 5days of labor. I’m financing it like a car (got 0%apr)

(For reference the hottest day here hit 110F /43.3C humidity ran from 96% but luckily down to 35% during the hottest part of the day)

$50k for an AC? Does that include gold plated duct work?

Variable speed high efficiency 3 ton and 4 ton units installed to windstorm code, new R8 ducts, UV lights, new controllers, and all new registers.

Next year they are switching from R410A to R454B / R32 which are flammable and will require new systems and certified installers. So it’ll be even more expensive. (15-30%)

yeah when it comes to my next move i am basically ruling out anything southern that requires tons of AC. climate change is a huge factor in where i plan to live/retire now

Dropped my employer provided medical, which cost more than 10k for the year, not counting any deductions. For 2024 they had to raise it 10%.

Wife enrolled us in an equivalent but better ACA plan. I kept my Vision, Dental, and accidental life dismemberment insurance, for myself and spouse. About 10 less than last years bi weekly rate. Now my employers medical, I had the top tier as I am getting older, was approx 341 BI-WEEKLY not sure how much employer provided. This open enrollment it would've went to 400+ BI-WEEKLY.

The ACA plan is 87 dollars per month, with lower out of pocket maximum, and 3k each out of pocket vs 2024 employers 4.5k out of pocket before 80/20 kicked in. ACA is lower office visits, lower prescription co pay, unless non generic.

I am saving my car payment + some a month.

Eggs at Walmart $21 for a 60 pack.. WTF?

2 liter bottle of coke $3.39

New SUV's $80,000+

WTF???
This is almost the most idiotic topic I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot especially in the relationships forum.

Good job!

Anyone who isn't stupid, understands that the liberal agenda to make energy more expensive and increase regulations, increases cost of almost everything.

The balance is that whole "save the planet" BS, as if making 1st world countries suffer, will stop china from building more coal plants or change the normal variations that the planet will face anyway.

Am I a climate denier? Absolutely not. Climate deniers are idiots who pretend that the token gestures that liberals make, are doing anything other than making the problem worse, and lowering the quality of life.

#cantfixstupid

This is the result of 4 years of attempts at liberal propaganda, which failed as all sane people knew they would, but now you want to whine and blame Trump? The amount of stupidity that it takes to reach that conclusion is mind boggling.

Granted, a significant amount of the inflation was due to Covid, and letting people sit around on their arses and get paid to do it, supply chain issues, etc.

Someone with rabid TDS will want to argue. Okay, just pull out a mirror because you're arguing with your own delusions, not me. I don't participate in delusional nonsense.

From Bidenomics to TrumpTrickledown is going to be one hella thing to observe, especially when it hits the working class folks that voted for Trump and they totally ignore it because they don't want to face the fact that they did it to themselves. Besides, their leaders are going to be giving them all manner of bullshit excuses and lies for them to take a soft whistling walk around the snarling gorilla they put in their living rooms.

More tax cuts for the wealthy and spilled crumbs off the table for Trump's middle class and poor suckers AGAIN. Shitheads never learn, don't care, don't wan'na know, it's all good, nothing to worry about, things are going great, so what if inflation is still happening but now it's no biggie.

The immigration problem suddenly won't be a problem anymore even after grocery prices spike because Trump's headhunters are rounding up all of the folks who work the fields and the packing plants and hardly any *ahem* "Real Americans" would work for the "job stealing" slave labor peanut pay, or the agro barons will have to raise wages to attract any "real American" willing to bust their asses picking produce. Either way prices go up. See, people have to understand that it's no big deal because getting the win and walking away from the consequences is the patriotic thing to do, right?

Happened all through 2017 - 2020 and when Trump got indicted, arrested, booked and convicted for his brazen acts of malfeasance it was on the one hand again no big deal for his peeps, except on the other hand it really really pissed them off. Trump's crimes are forgivable, but pissing them off was totally unforgivable. That was much more important than having Trump pay for his sins like any tax cheating, top secret document thieving adulterating sex offender off the street would be expected to be treated. Pissing off his admirers? Now that's a whole 'nother thing, because now it gave them a reason to seek revenge and shooting off a piece of Trump's ear was the pièce de résistance that gave his avenging angelic zealots a cause to rally around and unite in a common cause of striking back at the millions of liberals who enabled the shooter...well that or the CIA, or whoever was convenient to blame at the time.
