Or the actual truth!

The only vote they can't supress is the white vote.. but the dems seem hell bent on fighting against them rather than actually giving them what they want.
Very curious how Dems are fighting against "the white vote".

Playing into white grievance bullshit does not count. Lying does not count. Which exactly what conservatives peddle.

By all accounts the US economy is fucking rocking. But you'd be hard pressed to get people to believe that.
The government doesn't control the price of goods, unless people really do want a centrally planned, government controlled economy (but that actually is communism to a degree, ironically enough)

Predicting who will be coming out 4 years from now seems like a fruitless task.

We should also consider that Trumpism seems to only work with Trump at the head. Just look at how close the House has remained and how unpopular non-Trump Trumpy candidates have been. That's not to downplay the importance of messaging and the changing information landscape, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Newsom would get wrecked on the national stage. Instantly tagged as a Hollywood/coastal elite and GG. Or they'll bring up how he skirted his own lockdown mandates during COVID. Or all the mismanagement in CA in general.
His state of the state message was pretty spectacular. IIRC, it was not delivered live but was pre-recorded.

His covid rule break was him and wife showing up at one event, a by invitation dinner at The French Laundry gourmet restaurant. Compared to Trump he's God's own saint.

He is dynamite in an interview/debate setting, has facts at the ready. But given what just happened I don't know that I can have confidence that any particular person is gonna win for the Democrats.

CA is in a state of disarray though. He would be the wrong person to push a YIMBY message when it's one of the most unaffordable places to live with no help in sight. And is CA still suffering net migration loss? It's simply not a bastion of proper governance right now. Too easy to attack him - "he wants to make America look like CA." He's done.

Considering real wages are up, the average person is doing better. Now, has their wealth and wage growth kept pace with every economic sector, say...the wealth of the 1%, or the cost of medical care, or the cost of college, or the cost of housing? No, it hasn't.

A lot of that can be addressed through federal policy, but you need federal legislators to effect that policy in the first place. And roughly 50% of them have no interest in budging from the status quo (guess which 50%).

Things like:
Universal healthcare
Universal child care
Universal college tuition (or at least community college/trade school)
Raising minimum wages
Increasing taxes on the rich and corporations

Other things can't be directly addressed by the federal government unless you want price controls. Like fuel (even though it has been relatively stable, adjusted for inflation) and food staples (consumers also seem unwilling to switch to alternatives IMO). The Biden admin did backdoor set price ceilings and floors for petroleum using the strategic oil reserve.

State and Local governments are responsible for dictating the housing market. The only way to reduce the cost of housing is to build more supply, because we have plenty of demand.

It's hilarious.. people actually want communism but they don't want it called communism.. they prefer it's called Trumpism or something else.

So take a hint and give it to them..

What makes you think there's going to be a "2028" election?

I've said it before, and I meant it. Donald Trump will be the last President of the United States. He'll suspend the Constitution, and declare himself a God/King.
He may well be dead by then or obviously practically dead. How many attempted assassinations already and one by Iran? He's been obviously deteriorating and will be 82 in 2028. King? I doubt it. God, don't make us laugh.

BTW mainstream media is dying if not dead already. 2/3rd of the country doesn't believe in it and isn't asking for sources/ facts.

The dems need to fuck facts and invent a fictional reality and get everyone to buy in because we're not going back to where it was before Trump.. the election has made that evidently clear.. facts don't matter.. only what I feel matters!

The real question is, will they realize their current brand is essentially too toxic?

They're going to push Newsom, "orange man bad," and re-run the same playbook, aren't they?

The bolded is what I meant. I wouldn't care if my paycheck looks bigger if my expenses are higher than they were. I'm earning about 60% more than my parents were combined back in the 90s, but they were able to afford a house here in Toronto, meanwhile I can't. Toronto is probably an extreme example here in NA but I'm sure other people are in a similar position all over the US and Canada.

Well I can only tell you this.. I'll be voting straight Republican locally as I'm fed up of Adams and Hochul.

They're more right wing than actual right wing republicans!

Interesting view:

Politicians sculpture themselves in ways they believe will win. That's what I see in Newsom. Someone should take a lantern out in the daylight and search for a real man and gather the masses to draft him or her. The world is dying from politicians, in my opinion. But without a population bent of revolution nothing will change. It's doubtful sufficient numbers will wake up before it's too late to prevent our own extinction.

So you're left with federal government price controls and eminent domain, or the fact that state and local governments have not kept up with allowing more/denser housing.

If Harris had won, I would guess that absent a massive incentive to construct new, dense, efficient housing, that the first-time-home-buyer initiative would have actually increased prices because of a limited supply of starter homes.

But to say Democrats haven't done anything on the others...only one party is in favor of cutting down on the cost of medical care. Only one party has anyone proposing to reduce the costs of education. And it certainly isn't Republicans

Democrats want to win in 2028?. Call all republican magas rapists and terrorits and garbage. Stop apologizing and stop letting the media play the double standard. Democrats are pussies who won’t go low. That time is over. Call Trump a rapist on the congressional floor, call him a fascist liar. Blame him for every problem and every issue and remind Americans when bananas cost $499 that Trump is the blame because he is con man and stupid. Remind the maga that liberal bullets have the same stopping power

Stop talking about policy. No one cares about policy. Start hitting back at the stupid uneducated ones like greenman and mock them for being fleeced by a conman. Tell every American who didn’t vote or voted for Trump they deserve all the pain that is coming. Lost your abortion right? Too fucking bad. Lost your health care? To fucking bad. Your cousin is in an internment camp being raped? To fucking bad.

Then they ran a lousy campaign targetting people who were never going to vote for them.

This is what pops out to me.

They ran a campaign (and national and social media picked up and ran with it) on how anyone who votes for Trump is racist/misogynist/full of hate. Like you actually cannot vote for Trump unless you are guilty of hating humans for superficial reasons.

The majority of people who voted for him aren't those things, or at least they don't think they are those things. I feel like the entire campaign was an attempt to shame Trump voters into voting for Haris to atone for their evil personalities or as a virtue signal.

(1) If you truly believe they are evil, this won't work because evil people either don't know or don't care that they are evil. It's an obviously wasted effort.

(2) If you are trying to manipulate them into believing they are evil and therefore they need to change their vote, then you are counting on them to be idiots and it's not going to work in large enough numbers.

Focus on income inequality. Point out GOP has NEVER pushed any agenda that primarily benefited the working class. That covers all in middle class and working poor.

Like @APU_Fusion said get some balls and call them what they are to their face.

Get a hold of Sonja Sotomayor and push her to retire. Replace her with either Kamala Harris to own the sexual assault supporters or a 40 year old progressive. Don’t let SS make same mistake as RBG.

Fight harder. Punch them right in the fucking mouth.

If Trump cuts taxes for the rich again say you will raise them. Remind everyone this cuts across all parties, ethnicities, red and blue states. Go Uber populist.

Run on rule of law. We will end presidential immunity.

Focus on income inequality. Republicans who always give tax cuts to the rich and corporations have not done anything to primarily benefit the working class. Name one thing.

Make a baseline of all the economic indicators now to remind people in the future when Trump fucks things up.
Take a look at a video of people's perceptions of income inequality and the reality. You will be startled. Video was posted 12 years ago but trends remain the same.

Here is a Rand Corp study on income inequality from 1975-2018. I think this gives Democrats a focus that crosses all lines all demographics.

"... who might help the Democrats win..."

Person who comes to mind is Donald Trump. News and confirmation of his death would do a lot to give Democrats momentum going forward.

In terms of Democrats, I'm not saying he should run for president (maybe), but the strongest voice I recall hearing is Gavin Newsom's.

Is it not already too late for that? Is there enough time left (and political capacity) to replace Sotomayor?

There is enough time. Mitch got ACB approved in 3 weeks

I don't know nearly enough about how the US system works to contradict you, but is there presently a Senate who can vote to approve or disapprove? I thought it was still in the middle of being updated following the elections (that gave the Republicans control)?

Most of all though, anything that requires the Democrats to be as single-minded, and cynically self-serving as are the Republicans is probably not going to happen.
