Only the Gigabyte is the whitest of them all. The rest have some black stuff on them, like black DIMM slots etc.

From a quick look, the Gigabyte and ASUS should be shortlisted, due to the only ones with 16+2+2 power solution as it probably means they have better power delivery and higher quality longer lasting electronic components. And the ROG Strix wins further with a rating of 90A vs. Gigabyte's 80A power stage.

All of those boards are overkill on the VRM for a 9800X3D and likely even for a 9950X. If you need X870/E you need it. For most end users B650 will suffice, use less power (1 chipset vs 2) and be cheaper.
Yeah I bet a 9800X3D would give excellent performance even on a decent A620M with effective VRM cooling if nothing more than stock operation is desired.

Depends on the Corsair tax. At least GSkill is not particularly a rebrand. You should be able to find the equivalent GSkill cheaper.
There are no 32GB x 2 kits from GSkill with the same memory timings as that corsair kit. Plus if i go with this kit I will be able to get rid of the GSkill RGB app since i'm already using Icue.

Thank you for your input. A couple follow ups:
Is pci express 5.0 basically pointless?
Would any B650 board be able to boot a 9800X3D?
Which 650 would you suggest?

Was not aware, apologies.
I went with a 7200 XMP/EXPO kit from Lexar, some people said it had the good hynix chips but its only 2x16 kit. Was a decent price and hope to tighten the timings up at a 1 to 1 around 6200.

I have had ASRock boards last longer than ASUS. The PRO RS was one I had looked at, but the Nova came back in stock.

Let me preface that my AM3+ ASRock 990x board ran years, my original CHVFZ sat for years, ran for a few months and burned a ground trace in the PCB overclocking. Replaced with current sig because it was same board with a 8350 and 2400 ram. Did not want to bend new water cooling tubes. For 150 for all was fine with me a year or so ago.
219.00 US Dollars = 306.05 Canadian Dollars
1 USD = 1.39749 CAD
1 CAD = 0.715569 USD

+ Retailer markup.
Off topic, I remember going to Windsor because the drinking age was 18. Think one place was Don Cherry's or Cherries. IDK the old hockey guy. Probably gone now.

Upgrade went without a hitch.

Shut down. Removed AIO heatsink, cleaned off old TG Hydronaut.
Removed 7800X3D, removed stock ILM.
Installed 9800X3D, installed Thermalright AM5 safety frame.
Put fresh application of TG Hydronaut. Installed AIO heatsink again.

Didn't even reinstall Windows. 100.5 BCLK (so I don't ever see under 6000 on memory), 2067 FCLK, PBO +200 with ECO mode to 105W.

I never reinstall windows from scratch. I think the last time I did that was with Windows 7 or something ages ago. It's especially easy with CPU upgrades, where you don't even need to change drivers. Even with motherboard upgrades it takes a bit more work but is straightforward. Keep a backup and system restore point in case the new hardware doesn't work properly.

But it can be idea to check if system performance is where it should be.

It might be good to reinstall the AMD platform driver. I'm guessing this is not an issue with the single CCD chips anyway.

It looks like 7800X3Ds are going for $350-ish on here, so $150 for the upgrade. I'm getting an upgrade itch now even though I don't really need one. If I see it at one of my local microcenters I will jump on it. It seems just about worth it for Starfield and DA Veilguard.
