Narrowed it down to these four boards for my white 9800x3d gaming build but what exactly is the difference besides USB port? I don't even know what the difference is between a "regular" Asrock board or a steel legend.
Only the Gigabyte is the whitest of them all. The rest have some black stuff on them, like black DIMM slots etc.
Yeah I bet a 9800X3D would give excellent performance even on a decent A620M with effective VRM cooling if nothing more than stock operation is desired.All of those boards are overkill on the VRM for a 9800X3D and likely even for a 9950X. If you need X870/E you need it. For most end users B650 will suffice, use less power (1 chipset vs 2) and be cheaper.
There are no 32GB x 2 kits from GSkill with the same memory timings as that corsair kit. Plus if i go with this kit I will be able to get rid of the GSkill RGB app since i'm already using Icue.Depends on the Corsair tax. At least GSkill is not particularly a rebrand. I went with a 7200 XMP/EXPO kit from Lexar, some people said it had the good hynix chips but its only 2x16 kit. Was a decent price and hope to tighten the timings up at a 1 to 1 around 6200.

Let me preface that my AM3+ ASRock 990x board ran years, my original CHVFZ sat for years, ran for a few months and burned a ground trace in the PCB overclocking. Replaced with current sig because it was same board with a 8350 and 2400 ram. Did not want to bend new water cooling tubes. For 150 for all was fine with me a year or so ago.

I went from 12400 to 7700X, didn't need to install windows either.Didn't even reinstall Windows.
But it can be idea to check if system performance is where it should be.I never reinstall windows from scratch. I think the last time I did that was with Windows 7 or something ages ago. It's especially easy with CPU upgrades, where you don't even need to change drivers. Even with motherboard upgrades it takes a bit more work but is straightforward. Keep a backup and system restore point in case the new hardware doesn't work properly.
