My prediction is that those that voted for Trump because of the economy are going to get a huge shock. My prediction is that it is almost certain Trump will trigger a severe recession/depression and I think he is going to bring back the scourge of stagflation as well. Stagflation, for those of you too young to have lived through the Nixon economy is inflation coupled with no job/income growth. Not fun times for us peons, probably great for the speculators like Trump.
Red China is selling off it's huge stash of US debt instruments at a very high rate and has greatly weaned themselves off of US agricultural imports. They are positioning themselves to prevail in any trade war Trump starts. Their actions also have the effect of raising interest rates here, which will hurt all sorts of sectors of the economy, especially housing, capital investment and the casino known as the stock market.
Of most personal concern to me is how much damage Trump will do to Social Security. I've seen several predictions that what he is planning on doing will push SS into insolvency by 2031.
Initially from him I expect a sugar high burst to the economy from tax cuts and givebacks. The deficit and federal debt will blossom again-probably even worse than he did in his first term.
