Most liberals while trying to find jobs are actually working jobs like amazon truck driver/ uber/ home health aide.. so there is no "absorbing" these tariffs.. and in populated areas.. it's most like double or triple that.

Once other countries realize there will be no end to this negotiating with somebody who already can’t tell the truth even if it helps him will seem entirely futile. It is pretty amazing how little people understand a very basic tenet of economics, one that is almost universally accepted, that trade barriers are a lose/lose proposition. Sadly I think the more likely answer is special exemptions for groups that support Trump. Despite hearing it a lot I still think people drastically underestimate the amount of corruption we're looking at here.
