Just like Mali, that's the issue. Adreno wins since is open in that matter.
No Mali is far behind Xclipse, and even Adreno which don't have custom drivers tend to lag behind Xclipse,

this is red dead redemption running on Exynos 1480

This is red dead redemption running on D1200

This is same game running in snapdragon 7+ gen 2

As you can see there E1480 manage to match much faster sd 7+ gen 2 and completely destroyed D1200 even though D1200 has slightly faster Gpu.

Interesting:

And even The E2200 which has overheating should do the trick.

Indeed, Mali is pure force, but only is stagnant in Android. That's why Mediatek wants to join nVIDIA on the PC quest.

Rumour:
Mediatek Dimensity 9500 will adopt 2+6 CPU (Cortex X930 + Cortex A730), and use TSMC N3P process
Dimensity 9500

2x Cortex X930 @ ~4 GHz.
6x Cortex A730 @ ~3.5 GHz.
TSMC N3P.

Dimensity 9400

1x Cortex X925 (2 MB L2) @ 3.6 GHz.
3x Cortex X4 (1 MB L2) @ 3.3 GHz.
4x Cortex A720 (512 KB L2) @ 2.4 GHz.
TSMC N3E.

Dimensity 9300

1x Cortex X4 (1 MB L2) @ 3.25 GHz.
3x Cortex X4 (512 KB L2) @ 2.8 GHz.
4x Cortex A720 (256 KB L2) @ 2.0 GHz.
TSMC N4P.

Cache sizes of 9500 CPU are unknown, but it can be expected to be similar or higher than 9400.

What is immediately noticeable is that 9500 changes to a 2+6 design from the 1+3+4 design of 9400. You might think they are simply copying the 2+6 design introduced by 8 Elite, but the reasons are quite sophisticated.

Cortex X930 and A730 are ARMv9.4 cores. So they cannot mixed and match with ARMv9.2 cores (X925, X4, A725, A720). Dimensity 9500 will also adopt SME, which necessitates that all the cores in the CPU should be of the X930/A730/A530 generation.

If Mediatek was to keep using the 1+3+4 design, they'll have to use 4 X930 cores and 4 A730 cores. X930 is huge (12 wide decoder), has high licensing cost, and it consumes a ton of power. So having 4 X930 cores in a smartphone SoC is unsustainable. This is why Mediatek opted for a 2+6 design.

Having 6 A730 cores is great for power efficiency (at the lower section of the curve), because they have less leakage than Cortex X cores. You can see this in Geekerwan's video on 8400, where it has even better power efficiency than 9400 and 8 Elite at the lower section of the power curve, thanks to the 8 A725 cores.

What will the final performance of 9500 CPU look like? It is difficult to estimate the multi-core, but we can expect the single-core to reach about 4000 points in Geekbench 6, which is 33% higher than 9400 (+10% IPC, +10% clock, +10% SME).
Not sure about the authenticity of this rumour (OP doesn't name a source).

What do you mean? It beats 8 Gen 2 in multi-core workload. Single-core could be a bit better.

Has MediaTek made any official claims about the performance in Geekbench? I haven't seen any.
Yeah, if you go back a few pages there is a slide showing GB6 MT to about 6800. But this phone must be a lower bin or lower power limit.

This one I guess:
6800 would be way beyond the sweet spot so I'm not surprised if actually devices can't achieve it (at least with default settings - high performance, bye bye battery life mode might be different).

So, Nvidia made the decision to call the CPU “Grace” even though it is a separate, joint with Mediatek design with different cores and a reduced memory interface. They are getting people excited thinking they are getting what the enterprise buyers are getting.

There is going to be a rude awakening when the details are revealed. But the beauty of being so far ahead of the competition is Nvidia can abuse people’s hopes and aspirations. Many will be outraged at being misled, but then still buy it.

Naming is almost like Blackwell I think. As I understand the two different Blackwell lines are not very similar. Do they even have the same ISA? I guess there are two lines in the Grace family now.

I agree it could be misleading.

Jensen makes more comments on the 20-core (10 x925 plus 10 x725) CPU in Project Digits. Not only is there a possibility that Nvidia may launch the CPU in other products, but apparently Mediatek can independently sell it. Since it appears to be done, Mediatek is probably working their options right now.

Mmm.. interesting, maybe Mediatek will work in the lower tiers and with nVIDIA in the higher ones?
I mean.

Mediatek and NVIDIA will launch their joint processors for the premium processors, but for the lowest tiers will release the D9400, the D8400 or the future D7400 in the lower prices?

Ex. for the prices of the processor.
- Premium (with nVIDIA) costing USD 250
- High (D9400) costing USD 170
- Mid (D8400) costing USD 120
- Low (D7400) costing USD 75

EDIT: Giving more context about the D7400. Expecting going dual Quad, A720 and A520 with Quad or even Penta Mali GPU for desktop.
