It is hard to communicate with Russian coworkers. The smugness some Russian people have while lying is culturally incompatible. You're supposed to be ashamed of lying, not defend old lies as if it was the greatest achievement of your culture.

Thousands have died for that distinct cultural greatness of Russia and it seems they'll defend it to the end. Russia didn't start the war this it was forced upon us is as believeable as WMDs but their skepticism turns off the moment it goes the other way. The wars are totally elective. At least Americans only took a few thousand casualties before they called their government on that bullshit.

Story in today's NYT talks about how Russia was setting off incendiary devices that were routed through European cargo channels, with the potential to try and set one off in the US or Canada. Of course, whoever was trying to set that up completely ignored the large potential for a device going off midair or on a plane loaded with civilians.
