My driveway is about 40 feet of course gravel and 20 feet of paving. Years ago, most of the gravel had become embedded in the underlying earth, which was fine since it made a real racket driving over it, especially with a heavy car. So I let the gravel guy talk me into getting something more finely crushed. Basically, instead of chunks the size of a brazil nut or larger to stuff that had the consistency of aquarium gravel. My little Honda Civic Si can roll over it with barely a sound.
The only problem is that sometimes I park at the end to get the mail and then do a minor peel out to close the driver side door with the lurching motion. Unfortunately, that tends to leave a mark what with all Hondas being FWD.
