In the US? It's very blocked, not even VPNs work alone.I never used tiktok, but can't someone just go there in a browser? Is the whole site banned or just the app?

Then it doesn't belong in the OT, Otay?well I mean TikTok now is one of the biggest current political topics going on. It is what it is.
Looks like only the apps were pulled.I never used tiktok, but can't someone just go there in a browser? Is the whole site banned or just the app?
Maybe the security concerns are the main point of the service and the other bits are just bait? The thing that puzzles me is why couldn't (didn't, already) TT just whip up a US version of the app that avoids the security concerns?
TikTok is already hosted on Oracle's cloud, so most of the user data is easily within continental access to both the creators and consumers. Yes, ByteDance controls the algos and development back in China; but there's no reason to constantly move terabytes of data back and forth just for normal consumption.Maybe the security concerns are the main point of the service and the other bits are just bait?

The short version is:

2. Anyone can hit record with no special IT or video editing skills, which means you can build up a niche following in the millions
3. Brands will provide sponsorships, i.e. pay you to feature their product or service

TikTok ban would hit many users where it hurts — their pocketbook
"A ban would result in me losing a major part of my business," said one TikTok user who leans on the app to make money.www.cbsnews.com
I mean it when I say that I think that Tiktok is the greatest educational platform in the world:
School should be taught Tiktok-style
It's kind of mind boggling how much money that thing makes. I really would not have guessed it was that big. Would have figured that ad blockers would have killed that business model a long time ago.
YouTube is a minefield, but I've found enough good creators that I always have a lot to watch. It's been huge in getting me into chemistry and woodworking. Unfortunately chemistry creators take about 6 months to make a video and my backlog is running out.I can kinda see how it's addicting, I sometimes fall into the trap on Youtube and Facebook since they have short videos too. I get so annoyed at the construction ones though because they do so many things wrong. Pretty sure it's on purpose so they can get engagement in the comments. My favourite recent one was someone using a framing nailer to install a door. Door strike, hinges, everything. Framing nailer. Good luck adjusting anything in the future.
The trend I absolutely hate though is the click baity ones where they lead you to think something is going to happen, and then they don't even show what happens. Like what's even the point? That's when I get annoyed and turn it off and do something else.

There are literally thousands of chemical reactions and they don't have ideas???Unfortunately chemistry creators take about 6 months to make a video and my backlog is running out.
They are always busy rebuilding lab after mishap. There are literally thousands of chemical reactions and they don't have ideas???
Doing it properly takes a lot of work and I think all of them except for Nile Red have day jobs. It's not a super lucrative streaming subject. There are literally thousands of chemical reactions and they don't have ideas???
I still find this stat incredibly dubious. The short version is:

This is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. Maybe for specific people with your brand of neurodivergence, but certainly not for the broader mass of kids.I mean it when I say that I think that Tiktok is the greatest educational platform in the world:

You're like a Vogon, "I'm miserable so I don't see why anyone else should have a good time either".Kill the 'tube too.
