I'm a nature lover at heart but when the cold of winter sets in I combat cabin fever by playing in my virtual sandbox.

With understanding of what an opinion is worth, I find that big business and big government are often more destructive than useful. I'm a strong supporter of an open source, off grid lifestyle where individuals are allowed to provide for themselves and their neighbors rather than being taught to rely on a central authority for comfort and convenience.

That's me in a nutshell. Take it as you like it. Tomorrow will be the first day above freezing in a week and I'm looking forward to a nice walk.

I'm promoting open source software and data sovereignty. Yes it is new. I don't understand what you mean by "riffing"

That is a quite a coincidence. I'll have to check it out. I wonder if they have a naming convention based on plants. I thought it was a cute gimmick.

I wonder at an appropriate action in this circumstance?

Do you think I should add a Disclaimer? Something like "Not associated with disroot"?

Or perhaps, if as you say our sites are very similar perhaps we could partner in some way. Should i send a greeting to their admin and introduce myself?

I think ultimately I'll have to investigate before drawing any conclusion. Thank you for sharing this.

Honestly, I don't know. It's close enough to raise eyebrows, but doesn't reach the point of immediately calling it a scam, or attempt to deceive. Definitely checkout disroot. I'm sure they'd like some help if you have skilled help to offer. It's a libre software stack run off of donations. Nice service, especially compared to the likes of google.

This sounds like sage advice. It certainly isn't my intent to deceive and I concur it is similar enough to raise eyebrows. While my skills are questionable lol perhaps there is some way we could benefit each other. I agree disroot looks very nice and is very close to my goals.

I will send an email to disroot support and weigh in on whatever response is offered.

The squirrel probably wouldn't be seen going into a pub--he'd have to go into the scary, scary city for that, and he'd probably trip and fall on a thousand hypodermic needles.

Hi,
Its always great to see another ethical service provider in the pond. I don't see how we would be in any conflict so I would say, go ahead and continue your mission. We don't have any trademarks nor reserve the right to use plants or even the name root. Our gimmick is about disrooting from current corporate owned platforms. But yeah as I said it would be silly and weird if we would claim any ownership of anything. We merely just host software written by others so we are no better than monkeys with wrench.
Good luck with the platform. It's a great fun to run such project but also huge commitment and a lot of responsibility, sweat, tears, frustrations and sleepless nights.
