the right thing to do, they're going to be more than willing to have him grind The Constitution down into a tiny little pinch of dust particles and toot it up his nose and redefine The Rule of Law as The Rule of the Lawless.
When there is Dem supermajorities. Does shredding a 300 year old parchment paper and rewriting it to prevent this shit show from happening again?

He is causing chaos for a reason. I think it is to motivate Americans for War. Crash the economy, make them angry, placate them with a War against x. Like with Iraq the shouts of "USA" will drown out any attempts to Reason.

Why though?

It would be infinitely easier to just ride the coattails of an already strong and consistently reliable economy.

Feels like there's more at play here that isn't readily apparent yet

Wouldn't have to do that. As a living document, I'm guessing it can be modified by the majority so as to further enshrine and protect the actual intent and purpose of it, unlike what the majority of the conservatives in the SCOTUS are doing, where they toss aside the actual intent for political hackery.

I recall we have among us respected and highly regarded authentic literalists of Our Constitution that agree with certainty what the intent and spirit is of Our Constitution. This agreed upon interpretation can be utilized to determine the course we take as a nation if only these literalists had the authority to do so. That the conservative supermajority of the SCOTUS has decided to disregard The Constitution's intent and spirit and surreptitiously corrupt and leverage it for political and oligarch class advantage is where we're at and I can't see how that can be overcome unless the part of the population that actually decided in Trump's favor wake the fuck up and make the changes we need to steer away from the authoritarian track we're now, by popular demand, rutted in.

What's at play is that Trump is a moron, and he's surrounded himself with yesmen idiots this time. There's nothing deep about Trump. He's all id and he stupidly thinks economics is a zero-sum thing.

The good thing about him hitting the "make economy bad button" is that he hasn't even bothered to secure his cabinet staffing or any other priorities. How much longer are Republicans going to put up with his nonsense as he just tanks everything and people start coming for their heads?

For someone like trump who is easily manipulated, you look to the people he surrounds himself with…billionaires looking for more power and money and people with a right wing agenda. After reading greenman’s post there also might actually be a “burn it all down” constituency but I don’t know what they are hoping to gain.

Republicans had their chance to learn their lesson and make a course correction. Two impeachments, a god damn insurrection and they still worship this man.
Until they remove him from office themselves, they are all guilty. Every god damn one of them.

Don't expect them to do anything but keep worshiping. False idol is all they know and care about.

Republicans (real ones) are extinct long time ago, as democrats, are a carcass that needs to be destroyed and reformed into new parties. That or they will end like the Soviet Union

Yeah that’s true. We keep hoping there’s a line that can’t be crossed. But they continue to lowering that bar into the ground.

That would be too easy. Trump's gonna push. Tariffs will shake down the middle class and further enrich the wealthy.

Preparing for war? With who? The only country I imagine that Trump would think of going to war with is Iran. OK, maybe Denmark/Greenland and Panama. I suppose Canada and Mexico could hear some sabre rattling.

Destroying the FBI and Justice Department is part of Trump's agenda because he figures them for his enemies and retribution is part of his makeup. Anything that works against him is in his crosshairs including the media, political opponents, anyone with a pulpit who criticizes him.

The wealthy only make money because there is a secure market to do so. Blowing it up does not help them, and maybe some will realize that right quick.

If Trump and Musk want to destroy the overall social compact, they should no longer expect the social compact to protect themselves either.

I think it's great if Trump destroys the economy. We aren't going to get out of this collective stupor without real pain. Words do not seem to work with people. Truth does not seem to work. It must affect their material reality or we're on a path to dictatorship.

Let's hope Greenman is on a fixed income and the tariffs and other economic distress fuck with his year badly.

As greenman has shown us, when things get bad they don’t adjust their thinking, they simply lower the bar. How low can it go? Well apparently now they are ok with burning everything down. We’ve gone from, “Trump will fix it”, to, “everything is so bad so the only option trump has is to destroy everything”. Anything can be justified when you are protecting your leader…when you are in a cult.

We're not going to convince the Greenmans of the country. The key is to hit the median, idiotic voter.

Sadly that easier said than done. Unless there is a mass exodus from social media I don’t see things getting better.

The true believers are unreachable and we should delight in their suffering. There is a lot of squishy middle who thought "Trump good at economy" but could soon start being laid off due to his trade war that are going to put one and one together finally.

Yes, it is an uphill battle. Which is why the focus needs to be on "Republicans/Trump/Musk are doing X". There is certainly merit in also pushing other elected officials to stand up, and work to amplify the ones doing stuff (like reposting things Pritzker and whatnot are doing, even if they aren't perfect).

The issue is if Trump succesfully has the Nuclear weapons, we are done, they will use it to conquer and destroy the opposition.

US just gave the weapons to monkeys... we are screwed

Yes he’s the only one with the codes to arm the nukes. Luckily his finger isn’t on the button that actually launches it. Unfortunately how soon before he replaces the generals that is the final line?

The Air Force is probably not going to drop nuclear weapons on American soil even if ordered to do so.
