I think it's because we are depending on the system to protect us - for Congress to block appointments of obviously incompetent people and for courts to issue injunctions over clearly unconstitutional behavior. You and I are 100% opposed in the direction as to where we think the Dem party has to go to become successful, but there is one thing I have come to agree with you about. I am totally shocked by the lack of any effective response to Trump's blatantly illegal and/or unconstitutional appointments and executive orders, like appointing Musk without any confirmation, threatening to fire govt employees without any due Civil Service process, trying to overturn the 14th amendment by executive order, and trying to block already approved federal spending, to name only a few. The Dem leadership is not only gutless, but politically inept. I am also shocked at the lack of resistance/protests from the general population and news media. I am beginning to think the only thing that will be effective against Trump is large scale civil and economic protests across a wide cross section of the population. I dont mean to de-legitimize the George Floyd murder and the subsequent protests, but there was a nationwide reaction of protest for an extended period of time to that. In its own way, IMO, what Trump is doing to the country is far more destructive than even the George Floyd atrocity. And what do we hear in protest? Crickets.
But Republicans don't care about running the country into the ground for power, and Dems for whatever reason aren't filing lawsuits left and right to block this behavior via court order (which trump would probably ignore anyway)
