Alarm bells ought to be ringing. “Concentration camps” in Guantanamo were bad enough—but this is so much worse. El Salvador’s El Presidente is offering to "house in his jails dangerous American criminals" and accept deportees of any nationality.
Surely, we’re not talking about Americans, are we?
"We are willing to take in only convicted criminals (including convicted U.S. citizens) into our mega-prison (CECOT) in exchange for a fee. The fee would be relatively low for the U.S. but significant for us, making our entire prison system sustainable."
Now don’t get me wrong—I’m all for shipping MS-13 gang members out to CECOT—but disappearing US citizens in foreign jails is a slippery slope kind of thing. It’s the kind of thing you’d setup for political prisoners.
