TSLA is a meme stock. It's performance has zero to do with any real world financials like a normal company.

This is true however the eventual fate of all meme stocks is well known. The only question is timeline.

More generally he seems to believe a huge range of insane conspiracy theories about the agency. In addition to any personal axes he has to grind.
You can never count out personal reasons with Elon. He is as much of a vindictive little bitch as Trump in that regard. Between being anti-apartheid in South Africa, and investigating Starlink corruption, I 100% guarantee you these were factors.

I'm not. I think both things are likely true.

another reason Elon shut down USAID.

From reading the article It looks like to me that USAID is inspecting how Ukraine is using the Starlink terminals not SpaceX. I think the headline is just clickbait.

The USAID Office of Inspector General, Inspections and Evaluations Division, is initiating an inspection of USAID’s oversight of Starlink satellite terminals provided to the Government of Ukraine. Our objectives are to determine how (1) the Government of Ukraine used the USAID-provided Starlink terminals, and (2) USAID monitored the Government of Ukraine’s use of USAID-provided Starlink terminals.”

Gee, I wonder why there’s a sudden interest in owning Musk’s debt [and potentially having him owe you a favor…]

Can you not vote virtually these days?
I don't think so. I think the covid rules are over. I read an article the other week about there are some pissed off Republican congresswomen who are pretty pissed because Mike Johnson would not allow remote votes even if you're pregnant.

Women who vote for Republicans are definitely some kind of masochists. You're literally voting for a bunch of white men that think your second-class citizen what the fuck do you expect you morons. They just love the evil shit too much

I'm wondering what controls are/were in place before that would prevent some 19-20 something year old analyst from any other corporate vendor from accessing those systems if some other POTUS wanted it to happen? Has it always been the case that someone could just come in and access these systems at the President’s whim, or just no one has done it?

I'm "assuming"? Before a contract to work on government systems is awarded, there would be proposals, requests for quotes, and diligence on the contractor to make sure they have appropriate controls and security in place. The analyst might be 19-20 something old, but would have gone through training on security protocols, handling sensitive data, etc., maybe even a background check?

Musk just rolled in with some current or former X employees and they just did what they wanted. No diligence on the company, no security protocols, nothing. You’d get push back from inside the agency, and eventually someone would go toe to toe with POTUS and put their own job on the line to stop it. Alternatively, courts could step in. Or congress.

So now here we are! A slight amendment: it’s always been the case a President, with agency lap dogs in place, a complicit congress, and corrupt courts, could hand over system access to any random 20 year old! If you have a lawless administration, then anyone could gain access. It was reported that The security chiefs that tried to stop the Musk team were immediately put on leave.

The root of our problems now is that when laws, norms and traditions were put in place, no one imagined that criminals would take over the government.

as LBJ famously opined, rubes are fine with being 2nd class citizens so long as they see an even more oppressed 3rd, 4th and 5th classes beneath them.

They would also be escorted at all times, as opposed to the 'escorts' (employees) being removed from the premises ahead of time.

That's not good.

Tesla car sales in China fall 11.5% as competition intensifies

Sales of Tesla’s cars to China fell in January, as competition from domestic rivals continued to heat up.

Tesla sold 63,238 units of its electric cars in January, down 11.5% from the 71,447 cars sold in the same month last year.

Shares of Tesla were down about 1.5% in premarket trading.

Chinese rival BYD meanwhile sold 296,446 pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles last month, up 47% year-on-year.

Pff, that's great. Let his worth crumble and give the market to China. Can't wait to see how their dominance in the electric car market gets blamed on Democrats.

Yeah, they're gonna dominate the EV market globally outside the US and Europe like they do for renewables.

All meme stocks eventually come down to earth. It's just a question of timeline.

Caveat being that the controlling owners of those meme stocks didn't have the ability to control the spending of the richest nation on the planet and manipulate it to their benefit. Oh, also ... no cult following either.
