I have a pretty good hunch that Trump is, in one way or another sliding his ass in on the GAZA redevelopment idea of his if it ever comes to pass. I mean, he is a developer after all. Kushner is going to be running the whole show from behind Trump's fat ass and every firm that wants in on the Dubai 2.0 smorgasbord resort free-for-all is going to have to pay off Donald the Developer-in-Chief before they can cash in.

If anyone thinks that Trump's first term was the biggest case of executive corruption of the century had better hang on to their lug nuts and witness Trump and his oligarch henchmen outdo themselves from this heaven sent second chance of a lifetime.

You're prognosticating on a wish list of possible future events that's distracting from what Trump, Elon and the folks over at the Federalist Society and Heritage Foundation are actually up to with this blitzkrieg shutdowns of theirs. It's not anything about what what waste Elon wants to uncover, it's whatever he and the oligarchs that's teamed up with him can steal from our agencies that will in part fund the huge tax cuts they're imminently blessing themselves with.

The middle class and the needy are being robbed of the gov't services they rely on to live their lives as best and as safely as they can and you say they're being fleeced by the gov't when it's Trump and Elon doing their own fleecing of the people at this very moment in time. Who're you trying to kid here with this double speak projecting of yours? In this forum, you're not fooling anyone with this turnaround play of yours.

Sure there is waste going on, but having Elon wreck the very agencies that protects the working class people of America from predators like Trump, Elon and those other unelected folks over at those conservative robber baron think tanks is criminally deceptive in the sense that "rooting out waste" is nothing more than a facade for what's really going on. German energy company LichtBlick revealed an uncoupling from Tesla on a LinkedIn post. “We are pulling the plug on Tesla vehicles in our fleet,” said the announcement, with the firm’s real estate head, Kevin Lütje, clarifying that “Elon Musk’s support of Donald Trump and his recommendation to vote for a right-wing populist and right-wing extremist party … is in no way compatible with LichtBlick’s values.” He stated that “climate protection and electromobility are extremely important to us, but in the future we will be relying on providers other than Tesla.”

Such boycotts benefit Tesla’s rivals. “We have seen an increase in people writing to us and switching to Polestar in recent months,” Polestar’s German CEO Michael Lohscheller tells WIRED. Lohscheller called Musk’s endorsement of AfD “totally unacceptable.

Still waiting for receipts. So far third parties have not been able to verify the claims DOGE is making and the few specifics have been found to be distortions at best if not outright lying by Elon and team.

I doubt most Americans would have a problem with actual fraud being addressed. The problem is the evidence is not forthcoming that fraud is being addressed vs just the imposition of policies by an authoritarian administration.

I can't confirm it because I don't know COBOL that well. However I doubt the developers at the SSA were just totally cool with paying out money to people who are 150 years old. 100% the claim is bullshit just because it's so outrageous from a software dev perspective that it would have never been addressed.

They are desperately trying to establish the narrative that current government employees don't care about what happens to tax dollars and have just been enabling the public to be ripped off. It's just gross.

I don't think we have enough information.

Per this, there's "more than 60 million lines of COBOL today, along with millions more lines of other legacy programming languages." I would not make a determination on how the date is being stored based on that, without actually having access to the underlying data. How do we know they're using ISO 8601? I don't find it a fair assumption that anyone using a non-datetime field to store a date value would be using that standard. ISO 8601 was first published in 1988.

Took COBOL and FORTRAN courses way back in the 70's under the GI Bill. To see it pop up in this thread amazed me. Curiosity grabbed me by the scruff so I just went digging around the 'net and was amazed again at how popular they still are in the business world and elsewhere. Last time I needed to write code I forced myself to get up to speed with C ++ for trying to mess around with the game Battlezone back in the dark ages because it was so badly bug infested. Fond memories dug up from the dust bins of my mind.

That was kind of my take on it, IIRC Herr Musk only said that they have a 150 year old person in there, did not say that person was collecting benefits. It's almost like... with something this large and complex, people need to actually look at and comprehend things before they go shooting their stupid mouth off. That's not how Herr Musk does business though.

Exactly. Its the bullshit "welfare queens" (reality is, that's mostly corporations, right wing assholes committing fraud like getting PPP loans - then getting them forgiven - despite not actually owning or operating businesses they claimed in order to get the loans; farmers although most of them have sold out to corporations so its back to the first one I mentioned, and megarich to do pet projects when they already have the money to pay for them), or the election fraud BS.
